It is suppose to be, however many problems make it just about the same speed. GPRS is not suppose to be sold no its speed, only by its always on connection (thats what most uk networks do it). The speed has to em with things like distance from recievers and how busy the network is at any moment in time. Hope this is help. Regards, owen

well you can access wap via GPRS.
do you mean dial-up and GPRS? in which case, yes, it should be.
but still, you'll have to explain what you mean a little more if you want a real answer.

don't forget that the data passed via gprs is fragmented via various channels then re-fragmented back at the phones browser if the channel that a piece of info can not be routed then this info will have to take an alternatiive route

When i say wap i mean the one in which you have to dial up a no. and get charged on the time, with GPRS i mean the one that is always connected and people can call you at the same time and you get charged on amount downloaded.

I say WAP is like browsing to the internet using a device and not a pc like our mobile phones. GPRS is a means of 'connecting' to be able to use wap. Like a pc with a dial up internet account, Wap there is the internet and GPRS is the phoneline and the pc is your phone. There is WAP over GPRS and WAP over CSD (dial up type) I think, wap over GPRS is faster? Not sure because CSD is 9.6 kilobits/sec I dont know with GPRS but I think its 14.4 kilobits/sec.

GPRS max speed (theoretical, no network supports this) - 171.2 kbit/sec
GPRS max speed (real life, if you are lucky + T610) - 85.6kbit/s downlink + 21.4kbit/s uplink
CSD max speed = 9.6kbit/sec
HSCSD max speed = 28.8kbit/sec
HSCSD still to come max speed = 43.2 Kbit/sec
HSCSD is still more data-for-money... (at least for me)
