How many pictures can be assigned ?
is there any limit, say i assign 20 pix to 20 names, is that alot ?
how much memory does each pic take up ?

It helps to say what phone you use. On T610 each pic will use 30kb-65kb. Number of pictures is limited only by memory.... (~2mb)

i use low qual pics for contacrts but only for the important ppl, otherwise u endup with ur memory full cuz of it..doesn't worth it.The low qual eat up to 20k each which is good:)

I edit my pics on pc, and send them back to the phone...
All my "contact pics" are 4-5 kb !! I have about 30 of them

I use a different size: 110x101 pixels = around 4~6kb per image

It might be 4-5kb on the PC, but when you send it to the phone it becomes 40-50kb...
