I have 80 x 1-minute "Quickies" created during a new reality-TV concept patented in South Africa (Quickies is to Stephen Spielberg as Idols is to Brittany Spears). Some are hilarious, some are real tear jerkers, but many are rather colloquial. All are highly professional (no AFHV crap here). I promise that you will want to keep at least 10 on your p800 to show friends (wow factor with real style) and to watch again (for about 3 weeks after Quickies screened in SA, I coulnd't walk into a business meeting without someone discussing this thing they'd seen that had had such an impact on them).

HOWEVER, they are on DVD...
Can someone tell me what software (or combination) to use to take clips from the DVD and put into mp4 format, WITHOUT having to reg the software (ie freeware or shareware that I can use b4 expiry). I will then rip and find a way to host these 4 u to d/l. (I can't get at raw Apple files without paying an editor a packet).

PS: I don't want this to take hours. I'm looking for input on what to use that is quick n dirty without me spending hours xperimenting
PPS: All legal - my IP

You might want to follow a recent thread I started...

I'm sure there's a couple things I can help on.

Sorry BigFeat - should have given u credit. The idea occured to me when I read your thread, I thought "Hell, I've got a load of content that's PERFECT for this format". U could definitely guide me on how to do it, or perhaps I could even send U a double DVD set if you're prepared to commit that you won't just sit on them. Also, perhaps you have better hosting facilities than I have access to. I imagine that it's less about space and more about bandwidth.

For dvd ripping i use Vstrip, DVD2avi, tmpegenc and nero.
Get your hands on these, or try Eazy VCD it rips them in one step.

The trouble is that it takes a few hours, and if there was a DVD ripper out that didnt take forever, it would be widespread and rampant.

I STILL need help.
I tried mpegable and broadcaster beta, and time and again I get great mp4's that play perfectly on the Dicas player, but on QuickTime and p800 they play without sound.
I've read EVERY thread on Esato & Howard, and also the unofficial mp4 guide. I've followed workarounds for this issue by taking the DVD file acorss to my harddrive and renaming it to an AVI (it plays perfectly). However, converting this avi has exactly the same results. the ONLY thing I have not tried is testing the 3pg file I also created (not sure how to test this).
PS: Also tried DVD2avi (does whole damn DVD when I want 80x1 minuters), and tmpegenc which does not accept dvd input at all!
