Ok i have just installed a demo version of "Total IR Remote ver 1.2" and i noticed people complaining about the distance that the Infra red beam could be transmitted was not enough.

Well i can comfirm that i have reached 2m and abit over. however! I also found out that the range varies from device to device.
here are my findings:
(all results are Approx)

Sony TV = 2m
Sony DVD player = 1m
Sharp TV = 1.5m

As for a rating for this application, I would recomend it for the reason that if your not going to use it as a dedicated remote device, it's fun to play around with.
i would give it a good 7/10

2M!!! How small is your TV?? You'll go BLIND!

My palm remote had:
- Learning facility
- Different frequencies to best suite device
- Booster mode
- Ability for support add-on high power beamer

The p800 version is frankly lame.

I have a full version and I reached 3 m on my grunding tv, but I didn't tested it on my sony dvd (got it just today, great (dvd))

But I really don't use it at home, but I use it in school. It's really funny.
Your teacher doesn't know what's going on, (I've closed the VCR twice, and he thought that something was wrong with the VCR )
but then I rewinded the tape when he wasn't watching, and he finally figured out that someone is playing wit the TV, but he didn't got me

Well you got to realise that 2m is still not bad. Devices used for the sole purpose of changing the channle use 2 AA battries depending on what Device it is. The p800 has not only got to manage it's operating system as well as other tasks but also the signal strength of the infra red beam.
Personally i think it does a great job, if not for practicality then For fun.
