Hi there,
I just got a T610 two days ago, since, I am hammering on its keys all day long. I am a C++ programmer. I know that the phone supports Java (because Java is cross-platform and C++ is not, doh!), and I'd like to write some apps for it. I am willing to learn Java yet I am totally ignorant as to where I'd find the compiler, and how I would send me apps? Has anybody tried this before? I definitely need some guidance.
Thx.

Sun Microsystems would be a good place to start
You may also want to take a look at
Developers World

Thank you all for your replies. With the web sites you provided (and some personal research), I found that ericsson's "mobility page" is a good place to start:
http://www.ericsson.com/mobilityworld/sub/open/development.html
They have a getting started section, some documentation and even the required tools.
I hope that in a couple of weeks time I'll be coding my own apps on my T610 (sounds great doesn't it). Yet I am also looking for programs already developed. Particularly a database application that stores tables and can make queries. I had such a solution on my palm, if my memory doesn't fail me it was called MobileDB. Had anybody run into such a software? Being able to carry database and, possibly, to sync them with the pc is extremely useful.
Cheers..

If you are already quite familiar with C++ then it may be a lot easier by developing morphun games instead of java. You can get the SDK's from
www.morphun.com by registering online.
Anyone know of a good reference source for J2ME development on Symbian OS?
