Years ago i had t28
my coworker had cellphone number somthing llike..
+372 56123456
and a fix phone on his desk number was like
+372 6123456
and when he called me using one or another phone it showed his contact always though i had stored only his cell number..
so i guess Ericsson compared only last 7 or less digit when lookin for name in contactlist
anyone else noticed that bug... or does it still exist in newer phones??

Yes i noticed this quite long ago. I thought it should be a feature more than a bug. I bet many people here can explain why it is a feature rather than bug. Lol ;-)

It's the same thing when you dial out. You can dial only part of the actual number (usually the last digits) and the phone claims you are dialing the number of that particular contact. I assume that some operators allow you to dial short numbers and that's why they inserted this feature.

in my country, there was a period where the telcos were phasing in an additional "6" infront of landline numbers (so 1234567 would become 61234567). and because of this bug/feature i didnt need to update my contacts as they still show up correctly when they called.... until i figured i couldnt dial out without a "6" infront of the contacts...
