Hi all,
Does anyone know if I can copy my entire phone book to a computer txt file or something similar?
I know I can synchronize with outlook, but last time I did that both outlook and the phone was badly screwed up... Most of my contacts became duplicate entries, and my phone was full of useless email entries. (I have ~100 numbers in my phone and >1000 entires in the my contact list, so it is a pretty big problem.)
What I'd really like is to be able to export the whole thing into excel, that would be so sweet...
Any thoughts?

In the contacts section you can find a send all option which will send all your contacts into a single VCF (vCard) file on your PC.
This will look like...

so that might be of some use to you though some editing will be required to make it usable in excel.
One thing I have learned after syncing for several years is to make weekly backups of the outlook PST files so if something goes wrong with the sync I can easily recover.
There are also free tools on the web for removing duplicate entries if you have not taken this precaution.

Yeah, that automatically entered my entire phone list to my contact list... and creating about a 100 duplicates. No option for saving it as a file.
Tried the same thing with my pocket PC, same result.
Free utilities for removing duplicates, you say? Any recommendations?

You should have duplicates in both Outlook and t39 address book, right? Export the Outlook one using csv format windows and import the file with Excel. Edit it, export it as csv and import it with Outlook! Is it what you need?

Here is what to do:
1. You need to use Phonebook & Text Message Manager that comes with the older versions of the Communication Suite.
2. After you synch your T39 with it you can then export the file in a .csv format (comma separated values).
3. Import this file into Excel and you're home free.
