I have just recently bought the fantastic T68, and managed to get the e-mail working on it thanks to
www.freeola.com as neither BTCellnet, Genie or One2One support POP3 or SMTP, which sux.
To get it working just sign up and you get a really cool email address, 1000 domains to pick from.
Anyway, thats not why I'm here. Does anybody know how to get the bluetooth to sync the T68 to Outlook properly. I have done it twice, but everytime I take the phone away, or out of range, and then return, it takes ages for the 3com program to connect again and the SE mobile phone monitor program does not start up at all. No icon is displayed in the tray and I can't sync with XTND.
I'm on Windows XP home, and using the 3com program top create a serial connection between the two, is this right? The 3com has set my phone com port to 4, so in MPM I've set the port to search on to 4, this seems obvious to me but it doesn't work.
I did get it to work and a wizard started and asked me for a phone name etc, and then the icon was displayed but since then, nothing.
So many question, no answers from SE or 3com, I'm putting my faith in you boys (and girls).
Hope y'all can help.

Dan > Although I'm using the Anycom card, the basics are still the same. I found a complete "walk-through" by a guy(Wilson Chow) from Anycom, that writes in this forum :

This topic in the forum is called : Synchronize Microsoft Outlook with an Ericsson T68 (it also works for T39).

Well - to get synchronization you need to connect to the channel 11 of T68.
I'm afraid that the 3COM software doesn't show the synchronization at all - for me it managed to show serial ports, fax, dial-up and OBEX, but no synchronization ...

I got mine working (albiet with Windows 2000) in a similar way, but I will admit that repeat sync's (I only usually do one per day) don't start as well. Here is my process...
In the Phone Montior options->Com Ports (tab)
I find the COM port that the 3Com BT card has defined for the BT serial connection.
I hilight the port and click the reserve and enable buttons and click apply.
The 3Com BT manager then usually asks which device do I want to connect to, I point it to the T68 (you could have it always go to a set device if you don't need it to do other things via serial).
Then in outlook i select syncronize from the syncronize menu.
It usually starts up and syncs (not very fast, but decent).
When it is done I click on unreserve and disable (then apply) in the com ports tab of the phone monitor options. Then I disconnect the BT serial connection via the 3Com BT manager utility.
Yes this probably defeats some of the automatic desire of BT, but it works for me and it works pretty well.
Now that I can sync like that I find I use my PDA less and less, I am looking forward to the P800!

Jimak > Try to have a look at the link I gave.
This guy from Anycom also tells on how to set up serial-ports.
For the sync you use one of the SPP (serial ports).
It should work for you too,..unless of course the bluetooth card doesnt support synchronization with Outlook at all, or doesnt work with T-68.

Thanks guys, but still not working. I think it's something to do with XP and the 3com, my drivers are dated Jan 2001, so I've found some updated ones on the 3com website and I'll give it a go. The annoying thing is I have no PCI slots left in my Desktop, so I'm having to use a USB adapter for the bluetooth. There are only two that I can find, the 3com and the TDK, looks like I chose the wrong one!

How much a bluetooth card using USB is supposed to cost? They're selling it here for 145 US $. I felt its a lot. Isn't it?

I got my 3com USB for £80, but I may well be taking it back.
I've just got it working successfully using new drivers, but it just won't reconnect.

@danl:
You might want to have a look at this page:

Don't know if it was the same problem as you had, but it could be worth checking out..

Yeah Baby! I think we cracked it. Oskar, that link you sent me was the same problem, and what a wierd solution, manually install drivers and then restart windows a few times, works every time now. It's amazing what switching off your computer will do, but hey, I guess that's how they designed windows in the first place! So it's true you can sync using a virtual serial link, you don't need channel 11, thanks guys.
