Looks like Ericsson are developing yet another Bluetooth-like stunt, i.e. the development of a standard that may be largely embraced by the community. This may explain why all of us carry in our firmware text laberls of instant messengers.

Doesn't this create a conflict of interest with the Wireless Village Standard they have been also working on?

For some years on UK Orange network i & my friends have had a system of recording an unlimited length lenth speech recording, then sending it to all the other members in a previously set up "User group" (instead of putting the whole phone number in its just a 2 digit code for each) i then send the message to all of them at the same time, i can also choose a future delivery date up to one month (handy if i think of something in the night, i can set it to get to their phones first thing in the morning) this is COMPLETELY FREE for me to send & for them to recieve, because we all have free answerphone.
We often used this system to send interesting music or film soundbites, but like a sms you can listen to it when its convenient for you, not the sender.

I mean it is integrating walkie talkin into a phone
what if a person doesnt want to be bothered, and shuts off the feature?
personnally, I'd keep that feature switched off
someone doesnt hv the choice whether they r being contacted or not

sms is different
I mean
u can save an SMS
u cant really save a phone call
+ sms is more discreet
so u can write one in class and such
+ sms can be read at any time
and sms is delivered no matter what (network dependant
)
name me one pro for this invention :?

'push to talk' is nothing new, its been used in North America for some time.
1 plus point on current push to talk - its free.
