Hi,

I'm looking to buy a T610 on a forum. However the guy says he has disabled the camera by messing about with it and that I will be able to re-enable it somehow.

Does this sound likely? Perhaps there an option in the service menu to disable the camera? I'm just clutching at straws as he may just have broken it.

I quote : "I DISABLED THE CAMERA ON IT THOUGH, SO U WOULD HAVE TO ENABLE IT YOURSLEF BY CHECKING THE MANUALS IF U WANT THE PHONE IS 2 WEEKS OLD BUT I PRESSED A S**T LOAD OF BUTTONS AND DISABLED THE CAMERA WHEN I WAS PISSED, BUT U CAN GET IT WORKIGN BY UNABLEING IT"

I'd appreciate some help from someone who knows the phone before I end up wasting a load of cash.

Cheers,
youngteam

disabling the camera? well i haven't heard about that... that would be a good option to save battery, so that u don't accidentally turn it on... but otherwise i dunno...

Never saw an option like that in the menu, in the service menu and in the manual ... so don't buy it

I asked him how he did it as I didn't think it was possible and he replied:

"well u can unable it coz i spoke to the guy at sony helpline and then he was tellign me how to do it but he was taking ages and the price was 60p/per min so i hung up as i cudnt be arsed with it at the end, i never used the camera since i got dumped by my bird."

edit: Jim - that's what I thought.

Think I'll give it a miss unless anyone knows better?

It is broken and probably without warranty and he will probably buy a new one after throwing it away... on you!.. :-P There is no such thing as \"disabiling the camera\" on the 610... This message was posted from a T610

Actually disabling the camera wud be a good option to have; I work on an offshore oil platofrm and we're not allowed to take cameras - everytime I have to go offshore, I 've got t switch phones, which can be areal pain. I looked around quite a bit to see if there was a way to disable it. Save some actual hardware tinkering, I cudnt find any s/ware way to disable it. Seems that guy is tryin to pull a fast one on u.

I thought as much. It wasn't that much of a bargain anyway!

Thanks for your help everyone. Think I'll stick in a post in the "Phones Wanted" section and see what happens. (Anyone got one for sale in the UK?)
