My P800 went away to those lovely people at celestica 8 weeks ago and after approx 20 calls to them and SE i finally have a P800 (twice sent to wrong address) i turned it on and the one i sent back was bought unlocked although the voda splash screen came up this was easy to remove with the aid of file-manager the one they sent back had the orange startup screen although the phone did not have the orange logo on it. The phone is also locked to orange which is no use to me, i have waited 8 weeks for this phone and i rang celestica to complain and they wont have any voda p800 for several weeks.
1 Can you turn on the phone without the sim i think that i read you can.To check that it is not hamstrung to orange.
2 Is the orange phone the same as the voda ie same firmware (i can remove the orange startup mp4 with filemanager).
3 Can it be unlocked cheaply without invalidating the warranty and can orange do this , because at least i have a phone and if they pick this one up as i said that i am not paying to send back there mistake i probabally will be without a phone for another month.

wot a mess up man! without your p800 for 8 weeks!!
its gonna cost U to unlock it, although it wont cost much, you can do it yourself provided u have a ericsson t28s data cable, you can buy an unlocking log for about a fiver. i reckon the best thing to do is get them to sort it out mate, i know that means waiting longer, but theyve really cocked it up man. do you mean that you cant use you p8 at all? that is bad. just out of interest, wot was wrong with it in the first place?

Not a lot just a feint white line on the camera which was noticeable on dark shots and i wanted a firmware upgrade to r2f and they said that the phone was uneconomical to repair and they were sending a new one i should have used CPW and let them sort it out as they are only 1 mile away but decided as they say to do the right thing and send away to an approved SE service centre wish i had'nt.Also as the fault was only the camera and several others have had the same fault i forgot and left my brando screen protector on as well. celestica and SE are terrible i read several before i bought the P800 but could not beleive they were this bad!

Finally received my phone today a generic one put in my sim turned it on SE logos came on phone vibrated no sound just a feint crackle it turns out that the speaker is shot if you use the headset supplied everything is ok.Done a master reset to see if i had done anything stupid still no sound, contacted SE and they will send out an advance exch when they have some, i think that there quality control sucks or do they just re-case them and keep sending them out without checking them!
