wots the difference between XHTML and WML/WAP what is XHTML and which ones better? both these were found on esato's wap page.

There both very similar. wml is the standard for all wap devices and allows users to they text and pictures on there mobile phones. Xhtml is an advancement of wml and allows things like drop down windows and better clarity of pictures. The later is also takes a little longer to load due to the page size being obviously bigger. Actually, Xhtml is much more like html than wml.
It is, basically, a tidy up of html (forcing matching tags etc). The changes make it wml to the extent that it must be properly formed. Browsers that conform to xhtml are much less forgiving that html browsers.
That said - IE and Netscape can quite happily load xhtml where they (normally) cannot load wml
