Scanning all T3 threads, 1 thing is clear; ppl who can;t spend time developing their own skins hate T3 vs T2, but skins developers LOVE it. Let's help save the developers from themselves, and start a thread that will them turn our GUI into a true XDA-beater. I've trawled Esato and HowardForums for ppl's issues, and here's a synopsis thus far:
p800 skin maker: Clearly tracker have gotten a little ahead of themselves. Guys, like me, with WindowBlinds etc experience (too many nights alone in remote countries) LOVE it, but it's clear that your normal executive thinks T3 is lame. At the very least it should be possible to change the background without running the compiler, but ideally we need a p800 executable, and built-in text editor for the files. Later, this can evolve to a more useable interface. This would all be a sep app.
Snap to grid for icons - where grid resultion can be user defined
Faster way to set up icons - it can take many clicks to set up a single phone shortcut
Customise menu: Ability to change menu - many features are pointless once you know the app
Default first page: Jumping to tracker should take me to my home page. This way we give the p800 truly functional jog management (jog to tracker, main page has main apps that jog dial manages, and then app opens in view that job can navigate - works for me!)
User definable screen unlock button. Someone hates the blue double-click.
More user-defined screen lock functions: For me, I don;t want backlight draining battery every time my screen gets touched in my pocket, and I don;t need to see the display (usually today view) without unlocking. I get that other users would like this, so let's have it user-defined. I havn;t figured it out perfectly yet, but there are also times when I am in another view and my screen is locked. One has to know that's it's a blue-button thing cos the message doesn;t show.
Shortcut to compress memory - rather than having to create a button
Icons to be defined in skin (saves setting up the hard way)
Lost settings: Someone complained that when they remove their MSD they lose all icons. Sounds like a real issue
Ability to re-use shortcut sets between skins. Perhaps shortcuts should be saved separately so U can load them with whateevr skin u want

More powerful shortcuts:
SHortcut to jump to specific tracker page: One has to hard-code buttons for this fuction, and hard-coded buttons cannot be selected by jog dial
Shortcuts that open app with specific function: You can hardcode buttons to open task list with a new task, but what about opening contacts at letter "R" (then I can have a set of jog-dial buttons for each letter), or opening phone on recent calls list vs speed-dial, or open contacts in "Business" folder, or even open phone ready to dial, or SMS at inbox, etc etc
Also, when I open tracker (or hardkey to it), it should open at the HOME page (user definable option)

When T3 is autostarted from SMan1.2a or a .lnk-file in the Startup folder only the top bar is visible, but T3 is working (hotkeys are functional).
Seems to be a T3 problem because OggPlay starts just fine.

I think being able to select hard coded buttons using the jog dial would be great as it also means you would get a description in your status bar (If you have one.)

I'd like to be able to remap the blue button to Opera. THe other apps that make this possible just don't do it for me....

I'd like to elaborate on that. Sometimes I get a missed call while Tracker locked my screen and I can't go back to the Tracker app even if I pressed the blue button. I had to click on the application button in the top row icons to get there.

When T3 is autostarted with SMan, it sometimes does not seem to take on the hotkeys. So, u start up phone, but have to go via applications ot get to tracker, then go to settings, and thereafter it works OK. Not always tho...

for those of you who are like me who like changing skins a lot but find setting up your shortcuts over and over again to be a pain in the neck, i've figured out a way to change skin while keeping all your shortcuts. might not be the most user friendly way, but it works!
say you have 3 skins: skin1, skin2 and skin 3, and assuming you've set up all your shortcuts for skin1. your settings have been saved by tracker as skin1.ini. so what i did was first to COPY skin1.ztr to another file in the same Tracker/Skins directory, e.g., skin1b.ztr so that the skin is saved for later purposes. (this is because i've setup all my shortcuts for skin1 and couldn't be bothered repeating the process for a new skin.)
when i want to change skins, first i select another skin, such as skin2 so that skin1 is unused by Tracker. then if i want to use skin3 with all my shortcuts, i go to the Tracker/Skins folder and COPY skin3.ztr to skin1.ztr so that it can use the skin1.ini file with all my settings.
once that is done, go back to tracker, select skin1, and voila, skin3 appears with all your shortcuts! i suppose you could also try copying the .ini file and rename it for the other skins. you then wouldn't have to set up each shortcut all over again but could just have different layouts depending on the skin graphics.
at least now you can keep switching skins without having to set up shortcuts all over again every time!
have fun!
