> Is it legal to buy "unlocked" phones?
Bookmark topic
I have seen cheap "unlocked" phones on Ebay. Are they legal? I don't need to save $50 badly enough to break the law!
If so, is it just a matter of sticking my SIM in; or is there more to it.

All phones are made unlocked, it is just the networks that lock them in an attempt to keep you as a customer. Many independent retailers sell unlocked phones so that you can choose freely which networks SIM card to put in. It also has the advantage of allowing you to swap SIM cards whenever you want.

Unlocked phones are legal. However, if you buy a cheap unlocked phone from anybody you don't know, you might be buying a stolen phone!
