All those new phones from SE are certainly cool to me, I love the P900 and the Z's (600 and 200), Well done SE!!

The question is, does Nokia have something up its sleeve to fight back SE? dont get me wrong, am not favouring Nokia, AM A FOREVER FAN OF SE!!

But just wondering why Nokia is so quite so far...

So, no I don't think that nokia has any comebacks for SE right now, apart from the n-gage sector in which they have a clear lead.

SE has finally understood that they need a broad market of phones and products to sell phones to the masses like nokia has done. They've understand that their userbase likes quality phones with advanced features and a broad line up.

We've just started to see that with the t630 (reshaped t610 with a new case and better screen). This gives potential t610/t630 users the choice...

Have played with the Nokia 6600 side by side with a Z600.

IMPO, Series 60 interface has a different feel but works abt same way as T610/Z600 interface, although I'd say the new S.E. interface is more user friendly than Nokia's Series 60. So I'd say my preference is more to T610/Z600 anytime over the N6600 (although 6600 is only slightly larger than T610). Very much a personal preference.

I also think there's more "fun" factor in S.E.'s interface than Nokia's series 60 due to the fact that you can customize themes. However, the 6600 have added "themes" and you can also "preview" b4 launching it but it has more limitations than what S.E. has to offer. As for creation of own 6600 themes, nothing was mentioned and I'm sure we'll see some changes to the pc suite to allow for this (if any).

N6600's only edge is that like 3650, has expansion slot for extra memory and a larger display (ratio of size compared to T610). A scalable device that allows more potential applications and perhaps better games to be added, gives 6600 more room to "grow" than the T610.

Still, with phone replacement cycle being so short nowadays, I'm not sure if anyone will hold their 6600 for a long while before getting a 6600 replacement (perhaps an even smaller series 60 model but retain its large display and expansion slot feature).

For 6600 to be better than any S.E. offering, 3rd party support must have cool (if not killer) apps otherwise it'll just be a rehashed 3650.

Why I compare the 6600 to a T610/Z600 instead of P900?
Put it bluntly, Nokia's series 60 is nowhere near as cutting edge as S.E.'s P900 software. The 6600 menu and features are nothing more than jazzed up version of T610/Z600 menu and features.

Hi Lesneo.

Not that I can find on the 6600. It's likely to be in the form of a 3rd party software if available.

While it would be nice to have an MP3 player on the 6600, the thought of carrying a few spare batteries doesn't make me feel secure moving around.

Batt life based on its normal functions lasted 2 and half days... on modest usage.

Can you describe what limitations 6600 has in themes? I haven't noticed any...

Hi,

Limitations as in how much can be customized on the menu interface.

the 6600 has 4 default themes. while there is a 3rd party application that allows customization of fonts and skin colours, it is limited to just colour and wallpaper changes (based on my experience with it).

with the theme editor, the T610 themes can be customized right down to the font colour and rather than just colour change, users can use even edited backgrounds for highlight bars, active windows and even softkey/status bars.

do share if the 6600 themes can be further customize beyond what i mentioned. As I said earlier, the 6600 does have potential.
