> Tracker 3 and battery life

Hey! I recently installed Tracker 3.1 and noticed that my battery dies on me much much sooner compared to when I had Tracker 2 installed. Anyone else noticed this? I still have the R2D firmware and it's likely related to Tracker 3 because it's the only new app installed in my p800. Before I can listen to my oggs for an hour or two and still have enough juice to last til tomorrow eve but now I have to recharge daily. )=

I agree.
Tracker 3 is absolute rubbish but it's only the skin-lovers that are keeping it highly (over)-rated.
(i) I bought Tracker 2 originally for a way of closing open apps, and immediately noticed a definite battery drain.
(ii) I Installed a a handyday demo, liked it & de-installed Tracker
(iii) Demo ended after 30 days, went to Tracker 3 because it was a free "upgrade" for registered users & I saw so much praise from the Esato board. (I had also completely forgotton about how power-hungry Tracker 2 was).
(iv) I've been sitting at work today (having arrived with a full charge on my mobile at 8:30am) wondering why (despite regular top-ups in th e office) my battery plummeted to 34% after 3 hours!!
I though maybe I had left Oggplayer on low (no), Communicam? (no).
(BTW I can't seem to find a way to list open apps on tracker 3 - it's probably there but i can't find it like I could in T2's menu!)
After seeing all the posts on Esato today the penny dropped! This software is rubbish and is likely to give you more of those "couldn't happen at a worse time" low battery moments we all dread when away from a power-source.
I'm now buying Handy Day. It's not perfect but it doesn't eat battery like tracker does and the next upgrade can only be an improvement on an already good to very good piece of software.
Regards
Mike

Taskman and Fileman are separate components as to the opposed integration of them in Tracker 2. You can download them also from Symbianware and register them using your registration details. Try this and use Taskman to close off all your apps. Then compare the battery drain. 34% in 3 hours sounds a little harsh. I've noticed better battery preservation with Tracker 3

Thank you Budha - I'll give that a go and get back to you. However I just downloaded Handy Day 4.1 since my last post and it's like seeing a good friend again (bizarre! - I must get out more!)
Cheers
Mike

Same problem over here with battery drain. Had it in V2 of Tracker and still does it in V3, went back to Handy Day.

I didn't have the problem of Tracker 2 sucking so much battery and Tracker 2 was sufficient for my use then so I was kind of looking forward into Tracker 3. I have to agree with some of the people here that Tracker 3 would be more suited to the skin lovers and I was also suprised they separated the fileman/taskman component.

was seriously considering switching from handyday to tracker but after reading this post, i thought otherwise

i have been happy with my handyday 3.0 and am not even considering an upgrade bec it suits my purpose for now..
also, i think i saw a thread where handyday 4 had some bugs. but im not sure about this tho..
