> SE Warranty for T610?

Just bought by T610 a couple of weeks ago. Already have a problem with the sceen. I bought the phone in the Middle East and was told by the store the warrany is only valind in that particular country!! Is this true? I thought SE would have a world-wide warranty policy. I was thinking about taking it to Carphonewarehouse in London and trying my luck. Any suggestions? Thanks.
