i'm quite frustrated!!!

I've set up my phone so i can receive messages (headers, not looked at the bodies yet) ok. that's fine.

but i can't send anything - it connects to the server but fails to send.

Am i correct in thinking that the `incoming server` is the pop. one and the `outgoing server` is the smtp. one?

i'm using the ip address for freeserve, NOT the string `pop.freeserve.com`. this was through trial and error. but i've tried both the string and number form of the smtp setting but no luck.

any clues as to whats going wrong? i'm using gsm as gprs didn't work - one thing at a time!!

thanks for any help, clues etc.

you need to use t mobiles stmp number ie i am on orange and use freeserve e mail on my t610 via gprs my settings are
incoming server-195.92.195.154
incoming port-110
mailbox-.freeserve.co.uk
password-****
outgoing server-193.35.131.155 (THIS IS ORANGE S STMP )
all you need to do is phone t mobile and ask them for it or do a serach on estao its probably been posted before by someone else
hope this helps

thanks, but i tried that.

think its working now. freeserve's site had something which looked like sonyericssons configurator, except the freeserve one actually worked.

looks like the important part was having a `data account` entry under connectivity set up correctly, then have the email setting use that account. much of the information appears to be duplicated in both the `data account` and email settings though. odd.
