Over at My-Symbian everyone seems to be just posting their skins in one thread, but I've seen that most people start a new thread over here to post their skin.

Either way, here is mine. It isn't anything new as it is based on Windows Xp but that's what I wanted.

This skin was written by Bogus Jimmy, for Bogus Jimmy. It is based very highly on my PC desktop as my idea was that it would make moving between my PC and phone very easy if everything was in the same place, eg start buttons, shortcuts, time and date.

I am making it freely available for anyone to use and if you have similar needs to mine and use your phone in the same way, then you may find this skin useful. If you find bugs, have ideas for improving it or something that you would like in the skin just for you, PM me and I'll see what I can do.

The skin is based on Windows XP and the "Silver" colour scheme. A lot of the icons are from Office 2003 and the rest from Windows XP. It also has an SE logo and P800 as the background.

It has 5 pages:

1. Desk:
-For all your mostly used programs.
-Small shortcuts: FileMan, TaskMan, Internet, Communicam, Bluetooth, Infrared, Phone, Contacts, Messages, Calendar, Jotter and Tasks.


2. Media:
-For audio, video and picture programs.
-Small shortcuts: FileMan, Task Man, Bluetooth Infrared, Phone, Contacts, Messages, Calendar, Jotter and Tasks.
-Large shortcuts: Oggplay, Communicam, Camcoder, Audio, Pictures, Video.


3. Tools:
-For system tools.
-Small Shortcuts: Bluetooth, Infrared, Applications, Compact Memory and Close All Apps.
-Large Shortcuts: Control Panel, FileMan and TaskMan.
-Display: C: Free Space


4. Contacts:
-For all your speed dial and sms's.
-Small Shortcuts: New Sms, New Contact, Phone, Contacts, Messages, Calendar, Jotter and Tasks.


5. Today:
-Today screen.
-Small Shortcuts: New Calendar Item, New Task, New Sms


A few notes:
-I know that the time and date is a little cut off (only Wednesday is cut off horizontally, but sometimes letters get cut off vertically). This is deliberate as I wanted to use as little space as possible.
-The trash icon is extremely small because its gets in the way and you cannot put any shortcuts where the trash is, so just drag the icon you want to delete into the bottom right hand corner and you will find the trash.

EDIT (v2):
I decided to move the time and date to the top as it seemed like I had crammed in everything down the bottom and left a lot of space up top. My idea was good, but there just wasn’t enough space. I have now spread out all the page links at the bottom and made them into proper buttons. It’s actually easier having all the page icons on each page because you always know where to click to get to a particular page rather that having to look to see where it moved.
Also, all the TaskMan links didn’t work in the first version. This has been fixed. (Just typo with the UID)

Just tweaked some stuff, moved some stuff around and added Ram and Mem Stick info on tools page.

A variation made using premium FHM pictures as backgrounds.

1. Desk:

Note: It's too bad that there are a lot of buttons which block the picture...


3. Tools:

Laura Csortan
Note: Up until recently, Laura was my neighbour. She appeared in the June 2002 Australian edition of FHM. (and her younger sister appeared in the September edition). :shock:

Holly Valance


5. Today:

Imogen Bailey

Basically the same as the original Bogus Jimmy skin, but without the text (since lots of people didn't like having my alias on their P800). It looks a bit boring unless you put some shortcuts in the white space.

It's in the bottom right hand corner- just drag your icon into the corner and you'll find it. (And you'll see Recycle Bin in the status bar). I made it small because a big one gets in the way and you cannot put any shortcuts in the spot that it will pop it, so I put it right out of the way.

Thanks. I love that the trashcan is tucked away. Many skins put a big trash can right where I want to place some shortcuts! I also like the white backgrounds with subtle graphics, and black text. Some themes have wildish colors and it makes for low contrast in the real world, especially in the menus.

Only thing I'm not wild about is the Microsoft stuff - specifically, the Windows logo and green start menu and red X. I'm not a Windows fan, and this is anything but a PocketPC. But I like the rest of it so much it's my regular skin now! Grade A. Thanks again.

Yes, the red background in the Today page makes it practically unreadable.
For the rest it's great.

I really haven't found it that bad. (It does look worse in the screen cap). The only thing I can say is that when you scroll to an item it becomes extremely readable.

mind if I ask for a specific "Games" page?!? would be (by me) very much appreciated !
Also, would it be possible to edit the link to the internal browser with Opera browser instead? although it is not in the "basic" software of the P800, I guess a lot of people use it to navigate...
