Your phone may have those WAP settings burned in as factory defaults. It is possible for operators to ask this be done for them by Sony Ericsson.

Factory settings (if used) are burned in another part of the flash memory away from the firmware. However, if your firmware upgrader knows what he is doing, he can reset those factory settings for you (usually for a charge, I would imagine).

thanks cophia...thats what i figured...do you think that if i sent it out to sony ericsson for an upgrade to the R8 software....it will delete that setting that has been burned?

you may have to request this to be done also, and as mentioned earlier, they may add another service charge for this, but i'm sure they'll do it if you ask.

just let them know you want a frimware upgrade, and also have them remove the pre-set wap profiles in memory. they'll know that this means. you can't sound too technical because you have to remember you're talking to G.E.D.'s doing a very basic customer service call center job (not to be rude). but really emphisize that you want preset wap settings removed.
