hey all, i've connected my T310 to my laptop using IR and have setup the o2 GSM account. The internet works fine, except that randomly after a few minutes no information is either sent or recieved, and the only way to fix it is to reconnect.

the connection remains connected, but it doesnt do anything! this is really a problem when trying to download larger emails for example, any ideas? im with o2...

Could be a "power saving" feature of the IR port on the PC - ie it turns it self off while you are trying to use it.

I had the same problem, but i found connecting to wap via gsm(not Gprs) on my phone just before connecting to the pc solves the problem, had a 50 minute connection that way. You should use outlook and Gprs for your emails, It's much faster. The dial up is *99***1# on most se phones. Just put that in where the o2 dial up number is on your pc. thanks for the suggestion BOSSHOGG, but unfortunatly o2 doesnt let you use gprs on pay as you go i am using outlook, but as i said before large emails still take time to transfer.

what exactly do you mean by connect to gsm on the phone first?

I'm on o2 payandgo, Gprs is free till feb. When you connect to wap on your phone does it dial a number like +44. . . Or 91500? If any of these, you are using gsm anyway. If it just says connecting you are using Gprs and need to change your wap profile to gsm before connecting on your pc. You can change profile in the wap or data accounts menu. Thats odd, when i posted here before and contacted o2 i was told i couldnt use GPRS on my pc :-s could you please tell me how to setup the GPRS data account on my phone? apn etc...

As for the gsm, when it dials the phone it says connecting, and then says 91500 or +44... depending which i've dialed obviously (ive tried both).

No i mean when connecting to wap on your phone. What does it say? Connecting or dialling? The Gprs will only work on the o2 site on a pc, but you can use it for pop3 mail on a pc. I'm busy right now, but post here so i can post the setup later. And try changing the dial up on your pc to that number i gave you and see if it connects. Of course there are many other people here who could post the settings before me. . . . This message was posted from a T300

the gprs account on the phone says connecting, and i dont get charged for using it on both the phone, and as gsm on the pc. I posted here a while ago asking for the o2 gprs settings, whenever i tried to dial in i would get "Wrong APN address" or "GPRS Parameters not supported" etc, so if you could post me the correct settings to let me check my mail, that would be great

Do you have a working Gprs account on your phone? If It's not working, change the apn to payandgo.co.uk user to payandgo and the password is password. Now check the wap profiles, the o2 wap Gprs should be set at connect using the data account you just edited, and the ip is 193.113.200.195 all that will give you free wap Gprs on your phone. Then use your o2 email account in outlook and set the inc/outgoing server to 193.113.160.13 using the *99 number i gave you should be able to get and send pop3 mail. ah right, however that is already the GPRS WAP account i use on the phone, and is apparently different to proper GPRS thus why you cant browse the web on pcs etc. Also, the pop3 mail im trying to check isnt o2 so i doubt that will work either :'( i will have a try though.

Failing that, can you explain what you meant when you said you connected on the phone first and got 50mins browsing time using gsm?
