ok, i've been interested in the p800 for a long time, and decided to go 2-devices with a pocket loox and t68i.
the p800, while the design was interesting and almost appealing, it had a kiddie-type of image that sort of bugged me. and the flimsy keybad was not to my liking.
also, i found UIQ to be too close to PALM os; no real file system (from what i was able to see when i tested it in a local store), difficulties with outlook sync also lessened my interest.
so now that i've had my t68i for more than a year, i'm back in the "i need a new phone" mood.
my desires are shifting between microsoft smartphone SPV2 (the one with bluetooth and camera) [no flames please, i know this is an all-symbian forum. just let me have my options

] and the p900.
my question to everyone who's had the p800 and knows what has changed, or anyone who actually has the p900 (bigfeat too?

), what are the shortcomings of this new phone. because there must be some things that are not visible when you're just playing with the device to get to know it that show up when you use it on a regular basis/professionally that bug you, or that make certain things not usable etc.
i'd like to know your honest thoughts. i know it's a great phone, just trying to find out what i have to count with if i decide to go the symbian7/UIQ2.1/SonyEricsson path.
thanks in advance,
daniel

it's an eye-catcher, i confess.
@axoia2:
so there is absolutely nothing that you wish SE would fix/change/have done done differently?
i guess it's probably all in the operating system, since from the photos i have seen the device itself seems to be top-notch.
SO START COMPLAINING ALREADY!

Fix- of course
Change- of course
Add- of course
I used to be all day hanging around my laptop 'cause of my work.
Now I can check my mail, control my laptop, browse the tasks from the enterprise web and even listen music, make silly photos and lot's other. No more getting from disco to work as I can send a couple mails from my mobile.
My life quality has really increased, and that only carring a 'small' thing with me.
I can really tell you that I would change-add-fix a lot of things but to simplify all that I've told before in one sentence: I'm lovin' it

Ok, my 2 cents...
I've never been a PDA guy... I've tried a Palm & PPC... they're both nice... but I never liked carrying too many devices... it's just too bulky.
You'll have so much junk in your pockets.
And the thought of 'leaving your PDA home when you don't need it' ... well... I don't wanna spend $500 on a paper weight. If my PDA and info are not with me, then they're useless.
The P800 was nearly everything on my wishlist! It was a hybrid that wasn't as big as a normal PDA (it is a lot smaller) ... and had a very stable and robust OS. (Better than PPC, and IMO as good as Palm..with better hand writing recognition)
I will admit, the Duo is by far, the dumbest thing they have on the P800/900 but then what can we expect from Sony?
The P900 is everything I wanted the P800 to be (albeit it's still a bit too thick for my taste... wished they could've found a way to make it 20mm or thinner..but that might be asking for too much)
Now with regards to the OS... I love Symbian. It works with Mac & Windows. Some people can't adapt well coming from Palm... but I didn't have any problems... and I honestly grew to like UIQ more than Palm.

I agree, the duo is the dumbest thing they had on the P800, apart from the memory size.
For me, I find the P800 very bulky, I can't put it in my pants properly, I'll have to wait till next year when I buy new pants (I'm still schooling, school uniform)
I think the P800 design is very very beautiful... All curvy and such. Everything else is great, I jsut find the lack of memory COUPLED WITH THE EXPENSIVE DUOS very very very very strangulating

thanks for your input.
i guess both the smartphone and the p900 are a way to have all your data with you in a small package. so it's pretty much a question of "do i want a touch-screen or not".
do you all use character recognition or the onscreen keyboard?
on my pocket-pc i have tried and tried, but character recognition seemed to be too slow, and faulty most of the time. and transcriber (you write whole sentences and it recognizes them, or tries to) wasn't able to read anything i wrote. must be my writing.

The SPV (old version) has very poor battery life (one day?) compared to the P800. This means that the P900's battery life might still be better than the SPV2. In my opinion, touch screen is still the easiest way of going about a PDA. Keypad and Joystick may be adequate for phones... but not for PDA's... (Imagine editing word and excel uning the keypad and joysitck).

***no GSM 850--this is huge for people who want to use the phone in North America
*no one button voice memo like there was in the T68, R520, T39, etc
I have other complaints, but I would really
