Hi,

please can someone help me. My sister lived in germany for a while and had a t-mobile locked phone and has now returned to the uk. I was wondering, before i shelled out for a new sim card, would the phone take a t-mobile UK sim card without having to be unlocked.

I asked in ou local shop but they had not a clue. They said they were sure because some Vodaphone IRL phone won't accept Vodaphone UK sim's without being unlocked. They were sure about t-mobile.

Thanks for your help,
Owen

it probably will not accept the SIM card. what you should do is contact t-mobile and they can unlock your phone for free. call customer care to get the sim unlock email address for T-Mobile UK.

the reason i say it will not work is because a t-mobile UK sim did not work on a t-mobile usa locked phone until i unlocked it.

T-Mobile UK is 0845 412 5000 from UK landline and +44 7953 966 150 from abroad

Can't help with Germany - the UK office can presumably find it for you

what i want to say is u can just try it with a tmobile pay as u go card and c if it works.
when i bought my tmoible phone, i was told it was locked. but i can still use sim card from other companies on the phone, even those companies in china.
so dont take it too seriously.

@unique12
i do not know anyone with a t-mobile sim to try it out. The phone is definately locked because i did put my o2 SIM into to try it out.

Also the shops wont let me put one of their new SIMs in unless i buy it.

Not just yet got around to ringing t-mobile UK but will do soon. Hopefully they can help me out.
