> The SPV E200 - a new era?!

A little background: The

midnight-grey T68m (converted to the T68i software back when it became available) has been my phone for 2 years now, with all the ups and downs. Seemed that every software upgrade pushed the phone in a better direction and I must confess, it has been a pleasure to love and to hold, in sickness and in health
Yet, I have now sold my beloved T68. I thought about keeping it for its sentimental value, but felt no reason to do so, as I got a fair price with the camera, chatboard, headset, datacable etc., I have purchased over the years.
I love this forum and currently log on (once in while) using my company T200... works fine.
Now comes the part about finding the right replacement!
I value a lot of the new features in many of the announced upcoming phones. I have been considering among many, including the following phones:
Nokia 6600 - nice software (had the 8210 - worked fine)
SX1 - MP3, FM radio, bluetooth (great features)
p900 - great phone (but expensive, no
9210i - fax options
I am usually pretty good evaluating what is what, from many of the fine reviews and info here on esato.
First I was hoping to buy the SX1 this summer, as it seemed like a super phone loaded with features... then came the delays, again, and again... and I started wondering if the keypad was such a great idea. Sure, you can write sms’ fast – but only using both hands. Now, I am really tired of waiting, MP3 player or not!
Then the Nokias! I have had the 8210, worked like a charm, yet there is a lot of commotion regarding the newer nokia phone. From what I hear from friends/collegues/family they have problems. The ‘next year‘ soon-to-be-released 6230 and 7200 models (among others) seems nice... but don’t see that they have many added features compared to any of the other phones I mentioned here.
The p900 looks very nice. But is it worth it? From my experience with the T68, I must say, I have considered many of the reviews and data for this phone. I really feel this phone is all about marketing strategy from

The phone doesn’t seem to be much other than the p800 in a different (very nice) shell. There is already talk of flashing the p800 to p900?! Come on... I know what this must feel like having done this (successfully) with my T68, being one of the 1. ones to get one.
The 9210i -> bulky and professional and pricey. A bit outdated for my taste, but why in the world doesn’t any manufacturer put the word/excel and in particular, fax functions in their newer products. I know I would like these feature... anyone? Not even the p800/900 can do this without 3rd party software... didn’t even find the fax available for others than the 3650 (www.bitween.com). True... they may be developed in the future, but again we must wait.
Then I looked away...
and then I looked at the SPV. Many have this phone, and seem pleased. Only fallback, it is committed to the Orange networks here in Denmark, where I live. But the company where I work has Orange, and they services work fine, so I am not worried about coverage and prices are very good too. Also it should be possible to unlock this phone.
Anyway, my eyes fell on the new SPV E200 (SPV2).
The SPV E200 in my opinion, seems to be a real ‘out-of-the-box’ type phone, with all the feature I really was looking for in the first place. Reads word/excel documents, Bluetooth which I wanted, camera, 32 poly. ringing tones, 65000 screen, and the list goes on. I realize that it is a microsoft software powered phone, yet the features are i my eyes undeniably above anything else on the market.
You can see the danish pages here:
http://orange.dk/spv/spve200
I therefore took the radical decision today and ordered a new SPV E200 (SPV2) thru Orange.
Price: Dkr. 3.500,- including taxes with contract (can be bought unlocked for double this price)
Arrival: promised on the 17. November, 2003
But I must say it has been a tough choice
The SPV E200 - is it a new era?

New era? I doubt. It's a great phone, but new era will be 3G phones. I wanted the orig. SPV, but here in Slovakia, Orange has not offered it. Maybe the new one.

Elrond -> I partly agree... the future may well be on some other network like 3g or wlan, but as for the phone - i still think it is the best among other gsm phones, considering price and features... No?
I did actually look at 3g phones - especially the z1010 - very nice.
Also the network 3 just opened here in Denmark, with sales of the motorla A920... but it seems like such a bulky phone.
But all in all - its again the wait, and problems these phones will be facing the next 3-6 months. Network coverage seems to be VERY limited, and I read that the A920 already has some problems switching between gsm and 3g.
Anyway... I still believe the SPV E200 is the best new complete phone at the moment
