Hi,

Just received the P900 and am charging it. Am wondering how the best way to transfer all my contact, etc is? Is there a way to sync with the P800 which I would prefer over doing via a pc.

Will all the software on the p800 port directly over?
(Sman, Tracker 3, etc)

An avid mac fan I was happy to see the p900 manual illustrate connecting the base station to a powerbook but unfortunately the software suite doesn't work with apple.

Still waiting to hear if any cases are available for the p900...

Also, anyone got a link to the manual as mine is in Swedish and I would like instructions on how to remove the flip.

I'd say syncing with the PC for your contacts would be best, tho I think you can "Send all" from one phone to another.

Here is the link to the english manual

On the mac all you would need to use iSync (the new version that came with panther supports the p900).

The new version of Isync does not recognize my p900

The bluetooth pairing worked only when I selected "other device" and not "mobile phone".

In isync when adding device it shows device not found.

I am using Panther and ran software update a minute ago.

Some tinkering proved the following:

removed the p800 from iSync
then scanned with the p900 on discoverable and it found it as the p800
I went ahead and added it but when it came to syncing it said it couldn't find the p800 (which in fact is a p900)

trying in vain so far to transfer contacts....

I wouldn't mind using outlook on the PC but I have different sets of contacts on mac and pc and would like to keep it that way.

You can (or should be able to) send all your contacts from your P800 to your P900 via bluetooth connection. Shouldn't take too long (depending on the amount of contacts you have of course!)

How do you send contacts when the p800 won't boot up without a SIM card?

sync your P800 with outlook (save your contacts to outlook)
and sync your P900 with outlook (saved contacts in outlook will move to the p900).

rather cumbersome as I would have to create a new user in windows allow them to use the software and then configure outlook, etc. I cannot use my current outlook as I sync that with my PPC and have separate contact on both.

Is there a way to transfer contact info onto the memory stick and then use that as a conduit?

(I put in my memory card from the p800 to the p900 and ran stunt run & MIB which ran with complete color disarray)

Odd if you look here

http://www.apple.com/isync/devices.html

Apple lists the p900 as being compatiable with isync 1.3. I wasn't able to test it so I was just going by what they said. Bummer... I wonder what could be causing the issue?

Yep...

I went thru the iSync help file as was directed there; however the system doesn't recognize it as a p900 (still shows the p800 icon when it discovers the p900)

Current options are:
borrow someones SIM and use while I send contacts via bluetooth.
concern: might it not work?

use a file utility (such as FileMan with the option showing system files) to get the contacts file (contacts.ini). Save it to the momory stick and do the opposite on the p900.
concern: will the new version of symbian for the p900 create an issue as I will be replacing the original p900 contacts.ini with this one?

I haven't currently installed the p900 software for the pc.... is it any different from the p800 PCsuite?

The P900 suite works fine for the P800 as well (in fact it fixes the issue with "anniversary" events not syncing). I would be a bit cautious about moving the .ini file.

Your best bet is to sync your p800 with a pc /w outlook then sync your p900 with the same pc (moving your sim). Thats what I plan on doing.
