I have just deleted all my messages (MMS, SMS, Email, Autosetup) from my phone including Inbox, Outbox, Draft and Sent for each type of message. Before I did this, Storage Manager in Control Panel showed the Messages folder to be using 432Kb of storage. Now I have deleted all the messages, it is using 452Kb of storage! Has anyone got any idea why this could be, or how I can get my space back / compact whatever is causing this? Thanks.

I've just restarted the phone again, and now it's using 457Kb! Aargh!

I have searched but found nothing.

I found that at lot of the files/attachments downloaded by the email program were still in tthe mail folder even though they did not show up in messages. managed to clean it out only by formatting the C:\ drive and reinstalling. There must be a better way.

Possibly because you still have attatchment(s) which have not been deleted. If you download an attatchment, then delete it on your p800, the attatchment wont be fully deleted until you do another "get and send". I guess it does that so it can compare the contents of your email account with your p800s email inbox, and download or delete the correct files. Just "get and send" in all your email accounts and it should sort it.

yeah is a better way: in C/system/Mail they are a lot of files with names like 00100001_S or something like that! In almost every file is a subfile,then another subfile(named 1,2 3..etc and a,b,c etc),open all files and subfiles and delete ONLY the attachments( you will find the files received or sent by email or mms),not weird files that you do not recognize!DO NOT DELETE MAIL FOLDER OR SUBFOLDERS!
Is a lot of work but you`ll get back the space!

Awwww - you guys! You can always sort out a problem! A quick "Get and Send" sorted it out - now down to 4Kb!
