> New software for T68i :)
Bookmark topic
Here we go again, hehe.
Theres a new software on the way for T68i. It should be out about the same time as the upgrade for T68m.
Reason : At the moment the screen is updated almost constantly, and a lot of resources (processor-power) are used for this particular part.
This will be changed in the new software. Resources will be moved to e.g. the sms-part of the phone.
And it could result in the way "optional words" are displayed too.
Right now we only have the options saying for example : 1/5, in the upper right corner,..whenever theres 5 words available in the T-9 dictionary.
This will probably be changed, so that the words appear in a sort of roll-down-menu, instead of just numbers.
(just like You have seen in the mms-upgrade for T68m).

the warranty is international, you can get it updated in any country offering service on

products....

website:
International Service
You can have your product serviced within the warranty period in any country where an identical product is sold by an authorised Ericsson distributor. To find out if your product is sold in the country you are in, please call the local Ericsson certified call center. In order to be granted service, you have to present your original receipt specifying the date of purchase and serial number. Please observe that certain services may not be possible elsewhere than in the country of original purchase, for example due to the fact that your product may have an interior or exterior which is different from equivalent models sold in other countries. It may not be possible to repair SIM-locked products.

around week 20 (middle of May) will the upgrade for T68m be available, so probably at this time the new release for T68i is also available.

Is this official? What is your source? What do you mean the screen is updated constantly, isn't that necessary. Thanks for the info.

I love sending in my Ericsson (SE) phone for upgrade and I would hate to think that the T68i would be different. It's like changing the oil on your car, once a month, hehe.
All phones should run on some open software like linux. That way we could choose the software that worked best for our phone. My guess is that SE would not rank high on "new" software downloads.....
My guess is that this will be the future. You pick a case (empty phone) and choose functions based on your needs (MMS, MP3, MPEG, SMS, T9, WAP, XmL....) That way we could have some REAL competition on the mobilephone market. This would be the best scenario for the users, but I don't think the manufacturers would like this... I would, therefor they should....
