I was wondering if any of the P900 user would be able to clarify if the P900 has drivers for macs to use the cradel...or are we mac users going to still have to use the buggy isync?

You still have to use iSync, I believe. Don't know what bugs you're talking about, tho. Works fine for me.

The first version of iSync was a bit of a risky affair, but iSync 1.3.1, recently posted by Apple, is a different story. I'm synchronising my P800 using it and have experienced no problems.

P900 support was added in this latest update, an addition which should have made little difference to the stability of the application since the underlying synchronisation is largely the same as the P800.

Go for it... It works well!

Lao,

Are you able to Use all the features of Address book ?

I mean can you send SMS messages from Address book and dial from there too ?

Also can you send files to you P900 via bluetooth, the P800 used to error when you tried to do this.

Thanks

Simon

I've certainly not come across any features which didn't work. All the interactivity seems to work (dialling, SMS sending, call notification) and the synchronisation is now pretty much faultless. I've misplaced my Bluetooth dongle at the mo, but I'll test everything again when/if I find it.

As for sending data, the phone will complain if the datatype is not one it supports and I've found that MacOS can sometimes lose the datatype in the transfer negotiation. I've found that it works best to have the Bluetooth File Exchange app on the Dock and to drag files to it... You get the error, but the system asks if you want to send anyway and it works most of the time.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this works under Panther (should be arriving tomorrow if the Apple Store doesn't come up with some new excuse!)

how exactly does iSync work ... is it always-on, like activesync (meaning that the moment you change a contact or appointment it gets sync'ed to the pda) or more like palm's sync conduits where you need to press "sync" before everything is updated?

because i'm planning on sync'ing with my powerbook (doh, i didn't get the bluetooth one)

You have to manually initiate a sync. You can kick a sync off via a script action, so there are many ways to automate it (there's also a built-in facility for syncing every hour to .Mac, but not to the phone). But there's no automatic method for syncing whenever there's a change to your data.

But, since you do it over BT, the nice thing is you can kick it off from the menu bar and never take the phone out of your pocket.

Bluetooth USB dongles are cheap. You don't need a PowerBook with built-in BT to play.
