> OggPlay battery drain when idle ?
Bookmark topic
My battery seems to drain a lot when using OggPlay. I listen to some oggs for about an hour and already the battery is down from 98% to 75% or so. The phone is new (+ battery).
Moreso, if I leave OggPlay *not* playing anything (ie. Idle) in the background. The battery STILL drains at the same rate as when you're playing something. What's going on here !?
(NB This is not a dig at OggPlay as I think it's wonderful and better than the sub-standard audio player).

PLease let's get back to the original question.
There's some code in there that is draining the battery when idle. unfortunately i'm a not a coder so i don't know exactly what. Perhaps the coder could enlighten us (thank you) ??

Well let me tell u one thing, i don't find any type of drainage from OggPlay at all. Plus i had been using this software since its 1st version. 0.1 (BETA) SO whether u like it or not u r going to use it because it is one amazing app.

well i guess i must have a dodgy battery then.
I'm using SMAN to kill off the oggplay when i'm not using it.
over a period of week, with alternating days, it have used ogg play on way to work for 1 hour playing oggs over and over again AND kept Ogg in the background till the end of the day. On a different day i do exactly the same thing except i kill off Oggplay using SMAN.
I haven't made any or received calls on these days etc etc. I find that the % battery remaining on those 2 different scenarios is hugely different.
But like I said, maybe i just got a dodgy phone/battery. Oh well, when i get my 128 MB duo, i won't be using Oggs and i'll use Unreal instead

i knew that you would assosiate with porn or something, if you dont work for a company or the product is not from a company then its amature, sorry thats just the word for it, if i take a photo that looks better pro, and all my photo are better then pro im still a amature if i dont have a official CV of my skills. still i dont know if he works as a programer or not. and i said "he did a good job" and bill gates didnt, so...

This thread started with stupid assumptions (a guy developing a useful, elegant, stable and widely used application should not be insulted).
But here we hit the summit !
Why should a 128 MB MS drive you away from Ogg. My 128 is half full with data and apps and half full with Ogg files.
I can carry 4 or 5 full albums.
With MP3 I couldn't even fit a full Opera !!!
LOLLLLLL

i love the ogg player, its a great program and thanks to that skilled person who programed! i did som testing and i dont think the oggplayer drains battary if its not playing, its hard to tell, but if its hard to tell then the difference its small so why care.
and ones again, i think you should look up the word amature, because its not my foult that it have been destored and have a negative sound to it, did you know that the man who programed linux was called amature to untill he created a the company?
