> P900 Successor - Message for SE

I would like SE to consider this when creating the successor for the P900, if they haven't already made one !
1. Instead of just MP4s, play any video media format
2. Instead of a maximum 128mb stick, try and expand to 512mb
3. Make the LCD stronger
4. A CPU capable of playing mini DIVX movies or VCDs
5. Plenty of RAM for Multi-purposes
6. Camera definately needs improving, maybe 1.3 megapixels
7. An improved pouch with maybe a belt-clip
8. Better synchronization with PCs and all Windows platforms
All this for a price similar to the P900 !!!!!
ESATO users add on what you would like to see in the next model......

I have to wonder if phone manufacturers will ever build wifi into mobiles phones for fear that carriers will decide not to support those phones since the user will not be doing data exclusively through GSM or GPRS (or 3G eventually).
Having said that wifi in a phone would be a welcome addition as I use it every day in my ipaq and vaio laptop and have a wireless network at home.
so... yes please to wifi!

If you want all of these features tho, why not buy a laptop which will play any format which is available and if you want to take pictures buy a digital camera. I mean I don't own a p800 or 900, but surely the main idea is just like something for between the office and home and a fancy toy to play with! Althought I do have to admit it would be nice to have mp3 support on my T610.

I'm not. the MPEG formats are fine...they guarantee cross platform compatibility...and efficient streaming. I can't understand why anyone would want Real Player..or any Real Media... oh well... to each his own. I avoid Real software like the plague.
WiFi is not power efficient and doesn't offer always-online connectivity. It would be nice to have the new TI chip (offers Bluetooth, WiFi, GPRS, and tri-band all on a single low-power chip) ... but the minute you use WiFi... goodbye battery. GPRS consumes very little power even in use... and it operates at much greater distances than WiFi... but like I said... it would be nice to have WiFi as well, for when you ARE within range of a hotspot
The features of the P900 are actually good enough... if I had to ask for any 'realisitic' improvements for the successor of the P900 ...they would be:
-transreflective screen (if it isn't already)
-ultra-hi-res screen (same as the Toshiba e800) 640x480
-WiFi
-user adjustable GPRS time slots
-megapixel camera, user selectable MPEG4 video recording resolution
-built in flash
-proximity sensor for the speakerphone (just like the one on the R520)
-Long-range Bluetooth
-true USB connection...better yet, USB 2.0
-larger on-board RAM (128MB would be nice)
-larger MS or MS Duo support (Pro please... we know it's impossible to get other formats since it's a Sony product)
-2 part stereo headset handsfree... with standard 3.5mm jack for use with better headphones
-automatic, user-adjustable sensitivity backlighting for both screen and keypad (this saves a lot of power)
-please put the phone on a diet... it's way too fat at 24mm... if BenQ can make their UIQ device 17mm... surely
can match or top that with a 15mm (T28 thickness) device!
Basically, everything on my wishlist is doable...the technology already exists, and shouldn't be a problem for
engineers...making it cost as much as the P800/900... well, that's another story!

Ok you cant fit a camera or a laptop in your pocket, but do you really need to have a camera which is like 2 mega pixels in your pocket all the time, i mean i see where your coming from the camera in my T610 could be better but if you are someone who is like really into taking photos then surely a camera is better for takin your pics, surely the idea of photo messaging is just like for fun. Plus do you really need to be watching videos on your phone, i mean I couldnt site down on a train or something and watch a dvd on my phone, mainly because the screen would be to small. My point being do you really need a phone which can wash the dishes and everything.

I personally think the best way forward is better memory and upgrading the interface. Not big overhauls but little changes. I mean it would b gud if you use MS duo pro in ur smarthphone. Other makers will be increasing memory.
