how do you install java games onto the p800? do you just copy them to the phone or do you need an installer?

I assume you're talking about .jar files?
The easiest way is to click Start / Programs / Sony Ericsson / P800 / Install Programs, and install it using that.

Or just clicking the file on the computer when P800 is in it's cradle, it should install automatically.
