P900
I got it last Friday and been using it for 3 days already. The minute I turned the unit on was impressed right away. What can I say! I am totally Impressed. Reasons are as follows:
- 65K colors. Is there a cellphone out there thats got a bigger screen with 65K colors like the P900. Vivd and Vibrant Colors when you take pics or shoot videos. Packed with a 128MB you can shoot videos for over na hour withouth stalling. BAd experience with a Nokia 3650 with 128MB
- The design is TOPNOTCH. Its like a t610 smart phone. If you were to place a bunch of high end cellphones alongside. It will surely stand out. Great design from Ericsson!!!!!
- Stylus impressive compared to my p800. I make less mistakes now. although I still look for the stylus on the side (hehehe got used to a p8)
- Software pretty good, I remember the p8 would hang all the time except for its latest software which improved after 3 or 4 software upgrades. But with the p9 it looks good, havent experienced this yet even if i thinker with it all the time. Sman or tracker3 is a must for phones like this so it wont take too much memory. So I suggest to all new users of p8 or p9 to get this software immediatly so they wont experience hanging all the time. I havent experience hanging with the P9. Big improvemt coz it pisses me when in the middle of an email or sms msg the phone hangs. Erases my letter or my text.
- Battery life. AMAZING!! for a phone like this with all the software it handles plus the colors it is trully amazing. its over 24 hrs of use compared to a p800
- KEYPAD very good. Its precise and not squeaky. And it looks and feels solid.
- Signal Strenth improved with the P900. I remeber back then when Ericsson was still on their own, their phones had very good signal but thencsame sony and they went back to square 1. I remember phones like the t39, r520 that always had great signal compared to the sucky signal of the t68 and t610. Take note it did improve on the p800 but with the P900 it has better signal. So at least SE is making progress again in this department. Basing the signal strenth in my house. With the nokia 3650 I always had signal. Hope SE can have a better signal than Nokia.
- Con's
- same menu when texting still cant check the drafts/outbox/sent msgs with the flip closed but I can live with this since Im used already with the P800. Just hope they look into this on their next smartphone.
- Hope someday I can surf the net with the flip closed so I can like use the keypad for say YM msgs. Would be nice if you can surf with the flip closed..less hassle.
- Hope all the softaware applications from SE can be closed. Most of the software dont have the close option thats why it takes up a lot of memory and when it does it hangs all the time.
Bottomline
Im addicted with mobile phones and have handled many phones from different brands like nokia, ericsson, motorolla, seimens but I gotta hand it to SE. The P900 is the best phone Ive ever handled. Design, Screen, colors, pics, videos, multi player format(wav, mp3,Imy etc), software, memory, battery life makes you love this phone. It would take a long time to beat this phone. Probably the Best Mobile Phone of 2003. The only thing that sucks is the price tag. Hell for 42K it really is expensive. Im really happy with the phone but just the thought of shelling out 42k is insane not unless you're pretty much loaded. Got mine thru a plan, paid 21k with a 2 year plan from Globe Telecoms. Used my p800 as downpayment without shelling out money. Good deal and a Kick ass Phone....What more do I want......just a cold drink to quench my thirst while i look at my beautiful P900 hehe

Hello. Actually, you can surf the new with the flip closed using some 3rd party web borwsers, perhaps Opera (www.opera.com) but I'm not sure since I've not tested it. I suppose it can run any app when the keypad is closed... Hum?
Also, to close all apps you have some task manager apps for the Symbian OS. You can search Google and will find some good and free (and even OpenSource) products.
Have a nice day

I don't think you can operate any web browser when flip is closed... based on my experience

I've used many fones, including most of s60 fones, but this smart fone is simply d best.
Using this one is just a gr8 experience.
It has brilliant 65k colour wide touch screen so it's easy to access the menus and to read text, word, powerpoint, web sites and so on.
It has a large internal and expandable external memory card so you can use it not only for mail and documents but also for storing mp3, 3gp and various other audio and video files.
The loud streo speakers are just d best.
Never forget, it has Symbian 7.0 OS, so you cant just get bored..
Finally,
"This Phone is almost perfect... Well worth it's money"
