I am P800 user and not intend to upgrade to P900. I have tested P900 my friend has, still for me it uncomparable with HP Ipaq nor TabletPC for handwriting recognition. It recognises only letter not word nor sentence. I think it's the bad side of P800 & P900.
Also It lacks of Wifi connection, while many PDAs already have option for it in compact flash or already included in their handset.
Also the GPS feature.. Eventhought I've heard that some companies making GPS bluetooth that compatible with P800/P900, but it's still way to go. How long do I have to wait for it ?
Do we have to wait also for keyboard, gamepad, bluetooth headset for listening Mp3 ?

I agree on the handwriting & WiFi part... GPS... GPS as a non-dedicated system is pretty defective for me... no matter what PDA you use... so for me, I'd rather have a real Garmin or Magellan... at least having a separate unit won't kill my phone battery. But the Bluetooth GPS antennas have a lot of promise... all we need to do is harass the SW devs to come up with an app for UIQ

THe Keyboard is out already, it's by Pocket Top. Gamepad? I have no problems with the controls on the P800/900. SE has the HBM-30 MP3 handsfree.

Now, if you're one of those weirdos who wants to have the MP3s transmitted over Bluetooth... then I'm GLAD they don't have a device like that!!! A device that stupid would kill your headset in 2 hours, drain your phone battery, and make your music sound worse than an AM radio! Why anyone would even think of streaming MP3s over Bluetooth is incomprehensible.

What do you mean "only letter not word or sentence"? You have to write a word and a sentence letter-by-letter... Anyway, if you're talking about autocomplete functionality, then we have a 3rd party app called personal jotter (for handwriting recognition) and eZitap (for the virtual keyboard). It's not built in but it can do.

@jomni1, my old HP Ipaq could recognise (after you trained it) joined up handwriting, you must have heard of that, you know, like the boys do in the "big" school

Jomni, Tablet PCs (I've never seen this function on a PPC though) can recognize entire sentences... you don't have to write one letter at a time and wait for the Tablet PC to type out the single letter.

You can write a whole word in script, the whole word gets typed out at once. Not like Palm or UIQ where you have to wait for the letter to be typed before writing the next one.

Sorry didnt know that.
Cool feature anyway.
But of course, more functionalities would mean more memory consumption, the need for a more powerful processor, which would lead to higher power consumpiton and poor battery life. Poor battery life is bad for a mobile device. I guess SE has to sacrifice some things.

I'm disappointed with the P900 because Sony Ericsson has not corrected the shortcomings of the P800.
I'm a business user and the inclusion of a low-quality communicorder is a gimmick, that's all.
The P900, like the P800, lacks complete Bluetooth profiles (including the Handsfree BT profile) which would allow the user to use the phone in tandem with a car's (for example) multi-information display allowing one to view all the contacts on the screen. The T-610 does that so why can't the P900? Because Sony Ericsson couldn't be bothered!
The P900, like the P800, lacks fax capability allowing the sending and receiving of faxes on the move. That is something the bulky and now-outdated Nokia Communicator does.
These are just two points out of many.
As a smartphone the P900 is a let-down and disappointment for me and I will not waste my money on it.
The P900 is what the P800 shoud have been and considering the year SE have had to work on the P900 they immersed themselves in the cosmetics of design and appearance and ignored the deeper issues of functionality.
Over the past year I have been in constant touch with SE about this for nought.
The rest of the functionality is in the P800 so I'll keep that until Siemens or Nokia come up with newer and smarter phones that are supposed to do what they are designed to, be smart and functional.

@omar,

Not every body has bluetooth in their cars and not everybody sends fax messages... (some networks may not even support fax though mobile phone). And the functions you are looking for can be solved by 3rd party apps. So if SE is not listening to you, why not bring your concerns to some programers?
