hey guys, this week is the simo tci in spain. "the spanish cebit". i've been there everyday since tuesday and will be back tomorrow. i have a bunch of cool photos i'll publish in my site tonight or tomorrow.

before that, GREAT NEWS. at the sony stand there were posters showing images of classic memory stick duos (magic gate, yes, but not pro nor select) and a text standing "memory stick duo from 64mb to 256mb. especially designed for new products like the network walkman or the sony ericsson p800".

a guy told me YES YES YES it's true. in meetings with he asked if it was really true and yes, acknowledges it was difficult to find memory stick duos for the p800 but now they're going to produce A LOT so every store has stock.

i don't want to sound like rumours or anything. this is all true but i'm still sceptical. i asked them do you have any 256duo here so we can test it? and they didn't maybe tomorrow, but they have to show it to me so we can believe it

ps: i went to a store (i'm in spain, remember, here stuff goes out months after anywhere else, it's painful) and i did find many units of the new dark superfast (?) 128 duos for 70 euro (and bought one, of course!) but they didn't know about the 256mb ones yet.

Well done, i haad a problem believing P9/P8 would always be limitted to 128.
I notice with video's piling up on my P9 tthat 128 is MOST certainly NOT going to be enough !!!

128mb Duos are dirt cheap in my area now.. I get them at $55 USD a piece now... I now have collected 18 of them. The 128mb Duo Pros are $88 USD. I assume the price drop means that more sticks and 3rd party competition is to come. What's strange though is that there are minimal devices in the Western market that utilizes duo sticks. So why were the Duo Pros released in markets that have minimal to no devices that are compatible with it?? I still think P800 and now P900 owners are still the most duo stick consumers.. So why release it in a format that doesn't support those consumer's devices? Well see.. I know Sandisk is releasing a 256mb - 512mb stick that will be compatible with the Pxxx series. That's why I think S.E. smells the competition gaining ground and is dropping prices and trying to come out with larger sizes right away.

Just to change the topic,,,

@Bigfeat, on a serious note, Nice to have you back on the set....

Shit I have got some catching up to do, I ordered my 2nd today...and you have 18.....But I think you are right, the penny is starting to drop for sony and they are missing out on far to much money not making P8/9 compatible with the larger sizes...

There is no 'available/marketed' compatible memory stick higher then the 128mb at this very moment for the Pxxx series phones. However, expect one to be released very shortly. At the prices that the current 128mb duos are going they are very afforable that one should have change left over to buy the larger sticks once they are released. I'm still hoping someone with a P800 mem. expansion jacket can confirm wether the Duo Pros are compatible with it.. If not I'll have to purchase one myself to test this.
