> P900 Bug? Apps dont auto close
Bookmark topic
Is it me or am I missing something......
why dont the pre-built apps on the P900 auto close when I move away and open another app (task). Apparently they stay in memory and were creating a lot of _embarassing_ moments when doing the customer show-off to friends! Kept getting the "not enough memory" message.
I then found an app called HANDY DAY which has a task manager that allows you to "close" or "kill" any app that is running. Why doesnt such an app come pre-installed on the P900?
Any ideas?

Another good app closer i used on p8 & now P9 is SMan, but i also thought i read somewhere that the P9 auto closes apps, i ALSO keep getting the "Not enough memory" warning situation.

As far as I can tell, it's just a poor design choice. The thinking was that the apps take up little memory and wouldn't need to close. Apps can include a quit/close option if they want, but none of the standard SE ones do.

When my laptop slows down i clean off the history & temporary internet files, sometimes a defrag, & when the P9 says, "not enough memory" i go in & clean up the running apps, but SE shouldnt expect ALL users to want to do that.OR EVEN KNOW HOW, i come across lots of PC users who wouldnt dream of thinking about deleting temporary files or stopping apps running on a phone.

I haven't received the "not enough memory" yet after 2 weeks running. I thought Tracker was supposed to be the savior, but it needs to shape up and fix some bugs with the jog dial. I flip from App to App constantly. This includes playing a video file and quickly jumping to 3 other Apps. I have not forced Tracker to close an App yet. I only had that specific problem with my Casio & HP/Compaq Pocket Pcs in the past. I will look out for that warning blurb though. If it doesn't show up anytime soon then there may be a bug that is unique to x number of phones. Maybe a range of phones released from the same manufacturing run date.

switching between the smaller apps is not a problem.. but say i have the Vrally game running and then switch to the communicorder. I found out that it keeps Vrally in memory until the next time I restart the phone!

It doesn't like one trying to browse using Opera whilst listening to music on Oggplay! My memory always seems really low though, I never have much more than 3.5 MB free! Anyone in a similar situation?
THIS JUST IN
Holy memory draining features Batman! I have been using an animated gif. (The Matrix thing) as my FC picture and baby does it eat the memory up, it takes up about 2MB of RAM! I think I have found my memory problem.
It would be interetsing to know if other people who have reported low memory have had animated gif.s running

pachy and scotsboyuk
I noticed that when using my P800 (now sadly passed to another caring person) with Task Man I usually had 8.2MB of free space for apps after switch-on. With my P900 I have about 7.2MB even though I have 12.6MB of space according to Storage Manager. Anyone knows about SE manage memory? Seems to me that SE may have partitioned the memory to stop people from over filling the internal drive and thus there is less "swap" space for user apps.
Edit: I did a full reformat after receiving my P900 to ensure I had minimum amount of crap in internal memory

Yeah I have about 7.2 MB free as well , if I'm not using that Matrix gif, but I find that the memory goes down so quickly. Its a good job she has looks.

I had that problem with my P800..
It said not enough memory and then it started formatting the P800...
I hope it will not be the same as on my P900.
