Recently I was sat in my living room and thought I'd fire up SMan and see if there were any bluetooth devices in the proximity.

Normally I don't get any hits in this area, but recently I've been able to succesfully Bluejack a device called 0001E31B1F6A.

Obviously nobody is going to name a phone that, so does anyone have any idea what it is? It can certainly be Bluejacked, so I doubt it's something like a printer.

:???: maybe somebody really named his phone like that, in order to be the subject of a thread on Esato forums? This message was posted from a T300

i have herd of this before (i would find it but it wont let me search because of the server) i think it sometimes appears on some Nokia models, or something like that.

Also someone may want to name their phone that if they do bluejacking e.g. if they want to send a downloading virus contact and changed their phone name so it'll appear more real .

hope this helps

Edit: someone please back me up, i'm sure i saw this on a post here.

I have seen this once before too, just a couple of weeks ago.

I am almost certain it is the bluetooth device unique address. This is similar in nature to the MAC address which unique identifies (in theory) network cards.

No idea why it should show like that but perhaps if the phone cannot get the others devices name it shows it as that, although most often if I can't get the name I see "Unknown"

Hey !! lets start a new trend called "BACKJACKIN" where we get an old BT Nokia & set BT on, then by naming the phone "YOU C**T"

We get them, before they get us
