My 10 year old son allready had a T310 - but wanted a cameraphone - typical - they are never satisfied Didnt really feel like spending 300$ on a T610 so I got him the new Alcatel 735 today which was so cheap cause of some agressive marketingcampain that it was almost a steal. Less than one third of the price of the T610. I shelled out a total of 110$ and that was including 50$ prepaid talktime. That leaves only 60$ for the phone. And With NO simlock !!

I was suprised to find that it is a very very good phone - Camera with 8x digital zoom, Campics are better quality than my own T610, and better than a Nokia 7250i I was able to compare it with. Screen is very nice, 128x128pixels, 4096colors, on a nice big 34x34 mm cSTN screen. 1.8 mb free usermemory (total somewhere over 2mb).
Record your own voicemsg that you can actually use as notifiers - neet. Menu works good, a very nice softwarepackage, a very sleek looking metallic base (looks alot better irl than on pictures) and keys are good with fantastic backlighting (you can really see whats written on the keys which makes it very nice and fast to write messages on)

A big stepup from the T310 actually - with its 256color, 101x80pixel, 600kb memory and no camera. The Alcatel 735 ranks somewhere between the T310 and my T610 - closer to the T610 than to the T310. Coming from me who loves the T610, that is the highest praise possible.

No triband - but im never in the states so who cares
No bluetooth - but Irda though that works just fine with the softwarepackage.
No Java - never use it anyway

Apart from that I cant think of anything not good on the phone.
Update: actually the 24polys arent as nice as the SE phones 32polys. !!

Eldar has reviewed it http://www.mobile-review.com/review/alcatel-735-en.shtml , and ranks this phone the top phone in its class - second generation phone - and I have to agree with him.
If anyone is looking for a very good not to expensive SE alternative in europe (especially Denmark) - it comes higly recommended.

I just noticed that the normal retailprice around the world is about 250$ - which only makes the current Danish deal at 60$ that more interesting.

But seriously - any youngster who dont have loads of money to burn and are looking at phones in the just above T310 class - should really take a closer look at this one.

It actually does work with themes or as Alcatel call it environments - that on the Alcatel apart from wallpapers and colors even also includes ringtones. Theres no themecreator Pro software though - so I have to select an environment on the phone add the wallpapers and backgrounds and modify the themecolors on the phone manually. The mediacontentsoftware that comes with the phone is kinda nice, it connects from the pc to the phone via irda or cable and gives an explorer like interface on the phone to manage all contents, create new folders, adding and removing graphics and ringtones etc. They also supply a full obex sourcecode to the phone so if youre a programmer you can create your own software - perhaps someone may create a themecreator software for this phone.
