Just use sound recorder in windows. You can use the delete before/after current position option.

you need to get your self an audio editing package like Sonic Foundry sound forge or steinberg 'Wavelab' you then open the audion file in one of those progs and pick out the bit you want copy it to a new file and save at whatever bitrate/size etc you want

do a search for other packages but i can tell u sound forge is the best but quite expensive there may be freeware ones available but im not sure what there campable of

hope this helps

its not a stupid question..

u can also do it by roxio easy cd creator if u have it ...
or convert it to wav and then cut it ..!

after converting ur file to wav , do open ur file in sound recorder builtin windows .. and save as
GSM 6.10 format
this will reduce ur file size to may be upto 90 % and will work on ur mobile as ring tone
so cheers .... !
