ditto. I have prepaid too (smart & globe) and I can receive international calls in both networks just can't make international calls unless I have international roaming activated. The price is approximately the same when replying to Y! via SMS (2 or 2.50? dun care much when my phone has GPRS) Although last time I checked, Globe can't reply to ICQ yet. And no more free GPRS for Globe (which is the main reason why I acquired a Globe SIM in the first place
If you'll do a bit more reading here, you'll see a lot of (ex)Globe users complaining about the GRPS, other service, etc etc

free gprs from globe? was good last 2002 but not now when they have blocked most wap sites and if i am correct it is no longer free anymore.
Bottom line: smart = 12.1 m subscribers vs. globe = still at 8.5 m subscribers. (all inclusive of their sister companies).
Also, smart may be expensive (ang libre na lang sa smart ay yung *888) but they deliver the goods: gprs to most of the sites; their CS really calls you back to answer your queries (Globe CS doesnt bother to call you up especially for prepaid users); of the course the phenomenal E-load which Globe has been studying with their P100 AutoMax; and obviously the free text allocation. Being an end user, I would prefer the free text allocation to all network carriers unlike Globe which is limited only to itself and Touch Mobile. Had friends who were dissapointed to the Max with this feature alone.
Bottom line: If you want quality service/products, you have to pay more. Convenience is not free these days.

All those subscribers, and Globe still has a higher profit than Smart (inspite of the fact that they have similar prices, and Smart started charging for GPRS
long before Globe did)... and Globe is the top 3 GSM provider in Asia as per the Telecom Asia Awards.... hmmm... I wonder where Smart is??

@jp
that is true. Globe's focus is more on targeting a higher average revenue per unit sold (ARPU) unlike Smart which focuses more on number of subscribers(new and switchers) gained up to the point of sacrificing the ARPU. Globe is conservative;Smart is quite aggressive.

What's so fun with wap anyway?
GPRS is more useful for downloading email, and surfing real web pages on the go. But this costs a lot at 0.25 per kb. They should make a plan with unlimited GPRS / or that charges by the hour.

@jett
dont worry I am on smart not globe for a year now and extended for another two years.
And yes, what is the use of all those free surfing when it is limited to just the globe site and perhaps yahoo.Personally, I would still prefer paying for a better service and much wider access.
