Dear friends hello from Greece
I have the following problem for making me stop to acquire the so much desired P900
I have stuck for so long with a non-colored screen mobile!!!

Unfortunately the new colored mobile generation can not show nor the missed calls neither the messages, but only the time (screen saver) except if you press a key to activate the screen

It so hard for me to press once a while a key to check for lost calls or messages.

A primitive solution could be if the screensaver would automatically disabled by the time a message received, so as if you see a blank screen you could suspect missed calls. I don’t even know if this solution works

The only solution I’ve found so far is to buy a clamshell with a small black & white outside screen

I want so bad to buy P900 but I am afraid that P900 has the same problem and I will buy the Z600

Do you have a solution for my problem?

Thanks in advance

Dimitris

PS I read that alarm clock of the P900 doesnot work if the mobile does not operate. Is it true?

Welcome to esato!
Because the P900 is a smart phone (very, very smart ) you can actually set the phone not to deactivate the screen and show the clock. Just to turn off the backlight (but if you want to be able to have the phone turned on for longer than five hours at the time this is no good ). And unfortunatly dosen't the alarms ring if the phone is turned off .

Welcome to Esato.

re: the alarm

You can set-up the P900 to be in Flight Mode; this turns the phone functionality off (so you don't get disturbed while asleep) and leave the PDA (and alarm) aspects ON. Personally, I never turn my P900 OFF.

If you leave it in the sync station or charger, the light can be permanently on, all the information you need, missed calls messages ETC are on screen in any mode you want the phone in.
While your out with the phone if you miss a call, you need to get the phone out of your pocket to check, (as on ANY mobile), with a colour screen the only EXTRA thing is to touch the jog or joystick which will activate the light.

If you had a non colour phone & then bought aa P900, it would be like you were on drugs for a few weeks because of the culture shock, you could even have a video of the moment you smashed your old Nokia up with a hammer, permanently on the P900's memory card.
