Hi,

I usually leave my phone on for the night *T610* in silent mode. This way when someone tries to call then I can see it in the morning and still wake up on the alarm. I had a P800 a while back and if I set it to silent it also muted the alarm sound. Has this been addressed in the P900 yet or is there a 3rd party app to do this? I am getting my P900 soon and was wondering if there is a solution for this.

Thanks

People don't appear to be reading the original post. The question has nothing to do with what the phone does when turned off (a topic which, btw, I still don't understand everyone's fascination with. It's called flight mode - deal with it).

So, you want to know if you can have alarm volume up, but the ringer silenced? Wouldn't this effectively be the same as turning the ring volume all the way down? I tried this and seems to work, so I would say your answer is 'yes'.

Turning the phone to silent mode, silences both the ringer, and the multimedia (alarm) sounds.

On a tangent, one fix in the P900 is to have the phone vibrate for alarms when the phone is silent, which was really annoying on my P800.

so if I put the P900 on silent mode than it still wakes me up using the alarm signal OR just vibrates? It would be good if it would use the signal instead of vibration since that can scare you when you wake up for something moving on your night stand.

Putting the volume for everything down before going to sleep and making sure that the alarm sound is on takes a long time rather than just putting it on silent.

If you put it in silent mode and activate vibration then it will vibrate but the alarm sound will be muted. If you're a light sleeper then I guess you can wake up to the sound of the phone crawling across your nightstand

this is pretty a stupid thing they forgot. I mean ALL phones can wake you *not by crawling on you* even if they are on silent mode (I am not referring to the phone being off, I never turn my phones off). So in this case the only problem with Flight mode is that I cannot see who wanted to reach me and my SMSes are not there when I wake up, they get delivered later.

This doesn't help him because (read the original post) he wants to wake up and see the missed calls (not turn the phone on, and wait to see if he has voicemails).

sintax: This isn't stupid, it's expected. How is the phone supposed to know the difference between (Be silent, I'm asleep, but alarms should still wake me up) and (be silent, I'm in a meeting, alarms shouldn't make noise right now)?

While this feature would be cool, it seems to work logically. If you want alarms on, but ringer off, turn down the ringer. If you want the phone to be quiet, silence it.
