> Possible P900 unlocking solution?

Hey to all those people that have the P900 on Orange I was just thinking that the fact u can get a firmware update via Sony Ericcson website would this not unlock the phone with a generic firmware as opposed to an Orange specific. Cos I was told that if I update my unlocked P800 it would once again be locked on Orange.....So in theory if Sony releases a firmware with no customising for any network wouldn't the phone be unlocked?
As far as I know there is a new firmware, but aint to sure if it differs from the UK retail version....if I remember reading correctly Micheal from My-Symbian had updated his P900, though last time I checked the Sony update section was still down for maintenance but it would be nice if someone could try this....
I only just placed my order today so probably wont get it till early next week

No, updating the firmware is very unlikely to get the SP lock removed. This is separate from firmware in all phones that i know - it's only activated on/off directly by inputting the correct codes in the SPlock service menu (or using software to find that code from the phone & then input it).
And upgrading firmware of your orange P800 won't lock it again either. Same thing - SP lock is separate to firmware. Plenty of us have done it, no-one to my knowledge came back from an upgrade re-locked.

Oh ok cos thats what the guy at the Orange repair shop was claiming, it would make sense for him to not have a clue like about 99% of people that work in phones shops!!
No offence to anyone here that works in such an establishment!!

, i'm sure ur clued up!

Also if you use the upgrade site it tells you you can't use this service at present for orange!
