Hi all,

Weird problem and I didn't find anything on that anywhere...
And, no, this is not another "how to unlock" post.

I got my P900 today, installed the french language, synched with my powerbook, etc. Everything went fine all day.
At night weird, stuff happened with the Memory Stick: The folders in it disappeared. So i formatted it, used a couple apps to get new folders, but nothing.(I make it short). I took a look on my computer and there were wrong characters in the folders names. So I thought it was a problem with french. I then proceeded to change the language back to english.

That's where the nightmare begins:

After restarting, the phone says "wrong SIM card". So I tried with two others SIM cards. Same. All those SIMS work on my T68i and other phones.
I searched a little on the net I read this is the message when the phone is simlocked, so I entered Service Menu and every Simlock submenus are locked with number 0!
Should be unlocked with 5, I think.

Formatting C didn't change anything.

Does the phone auto-locked??
How can this happen? It worked all day!

I live in Belgium and bought it in Germany, so I can't go to a SE center i guess. They will think it's a locked phone + the P900 isn't available here for now, so I have got a very expensive useless device now.

And I don't really want to make 400 KM to the shop!

Any help, please?
Thank you.

I just read it on my-symbian, i was looking at the lock options on mine, no auto, but there is "sim lock at power on" option but that would just need your lock code to be entered, & also in order to set up that option, you would have had to put in your code in the first place, is it possible to ring the place you bought it ?

Thanks for your answer.

Are you talking about a "phone lock".
I entered a code but didn't activate it.
Anyway, I know this code as it's the same as my sim code.
Tried first in fact. Tried the common code too 0000 1234 12345, etc.
I hope I'm wrong but it don't seem to be so easy.
Specially when i see all those locked padlock in the service menu...

I wrote to the shop, but I hope I can find another way than go there or send the phone back... It was pretty hard to wait for the p900 already

Aaargh!

Can somebody tell me what happens when the p900 ask for the phone code?
I mean, does it say: "Enter phone code" or "Wrong SIM card" "Insert correct SIM"?

I still try to figure out if it's the "phone lock" or "network SIM lock" which is on.

Still no answer from the shop...

it will first ask for the PIN code, then it will ask for the PHONE code

seems your phone is network locked, then the WRONG SIM will appear

Maybe it got confused by changing the language, falling into a bug in the firmware fooling the phone, dunno, but change it back to English.

Can you still get into the phone? Tried a master reset?

I know the LOCK code is 0000 by default (had this first time with screensaver lock, after some 4 letter words I was relieved to discover it was 0000)

Go to any Sony Ericsson service center with your invoice, they will help you for free (probably reflash it) no matter where the phone came from in Europe.

So it looks it's network locked...
How can it be that a unlocked phone becomes locked?
Anyone ever heard of this?

The seller never saw that before.
I phoned SE belgium, they don't know shit.
Keep saying it's network locked, but can answer why it worked for some time.
I asked if this could be a big bug, they say it's possible but they "don't received the bugs yet"!

I will ask my provider but I doubt they will unlock it for me.
I'd have to drive 450Km then...

If somebody knows place where I can unlock P900 in Belgium, this will maybe be easier and cheaper... Damnit it turned into a "where to unlock" post.

Grrr

BTW, I noticed that, in the service menu, software tab, it know says "unavailable for "Bluetooth software version"... Could it be a sign for bigger problems (if this could be!)?

Can you try to reflash the phone using the Sony Ericsson Online Firmware Updates? Not sure if it will work though.

I managed to do the same thing on my old nokia 8210 while trying to unlock the phone, i ended up locking all the locks and had to get the phone replaced as the service centre could not also unlock the phone back..... the phone became permanetly locked.

i can imagine how you feel, hope you sort it!

Just a follow up.

I've been contacted by someone at SE CS backoffice on the my-symbian forum.
They were interrested at the problem and wanted to take a look at the phone.
They sent me a new one, just received it today.

Coool!!!

Excellent consumer service!

I hope this one will work more than 6 hours

Thanx to all who answered my post.
