Hi after researching and messing about for 3 days I have started to make some .wav ringtones for my P800. They are all under 800kb...so if anyone has requests...i might be able to do a few...but dont take the piss!!!

But does anyone know what bit rate the audio speaker on the P800 supports? Ie 8 bit, 16 nit or 24 bit?

PS does anyone know any good web hosting compaies that are free...just for any good ringtones...or can anyone offer to host a few for me?

.WAV files at 800kb? How long are they? Anything more than 20 seconds and most people will hang up, or Voicemail will kick in at least!

They are about 10-15 secs....they are just clipits of the song. You can actually answer the phone instead of just listening to the tunes ya know Steve!! he he

According to the P900 whitepaper:

"Recommended WAV file format for the loudspeaker is 22.050kHz sampling rate, 8-bit samples and 1 channel (mono)"

Nâh, I downloaded Sonic Foundry SoundForge form KaZaA and made my own. It's easy as pie.
Anyway usually I don't want to use songs as a ringtone.... and the internet is full of great and humorous WAVvies.

Thanks for the offer though.

For the P800 I suggest converting the .wav files to .au. You'll crunch the file size considerably. I have 5000 ringtones already made up in .au format.. However, with the P900 I just throw in a .mp3 for my ringtone..

you can encode your wav's right down. I use something called gold wave and the GSM codec, it works fine in the p800 and will save you a load of space...

I saw a commercil for the new super poly ringers today. The advertiser noted it as being the most real sounding ringers one will find in any phone... Has no one heard of the Pxxx series phones? Mp3 as a ringer now how 'bout that... Dunno why some get suckered into buying these crap ringers.
