> t68i or t230?
Bookmark topic
Hi!
Am in the market for a budget MMS handset.
Am contemplating on getting a t68i or the upcoming t230 (if I can wait).
Aside from the color screen (256 colors vs 4096), what other issues could there be?
By the way the unit will be used to check if my company's MMS content is up and running..and not for "personal" use....
I currently have a t610 and a t39m as my personal mobiles....
Thanks!

hmm..it says 4096 here:
http://www.mobileburn.com/review.jsp?Id=440
"Michael reviewed the T226, the T230's North American twin, in early August. This version shares most of the features of the T226, with a few important exceptions. First and most important is the display. The colours have been bumped from 512 to 4096. This is a fairly significant improvement, and will likely make for some pretty jealous T226 users."

hmm found another link with info:
http://www.imobile.com.au/Future/default.asp?ID=futureoct0302
"The T230 has a 4,096 colour display, inspiring consumers to use colour pictures and other graphics to personalize their phone; themes, wallpapers, games and other content is available for download at
http://www.SonyEricsson.com. When used with a MCA-30 CommuniCam VGA camera accessory, the T230 is ready to take, view and send images, using the screen as a viewfinder. Images can be sent as e-mail to a computer or as MMS (Multimedia messaging) straight to another mobile phone. With the Sony Ericsson T230, several slides, each containing pictures, fun layers, sound and text, can be sent in one message."
on another note- what would you get? a t68i or the t230?

Ever since i purchased my T68i, i have never sold it.
Its one good phone with great design outside and a good software inside.
However, the T230 is more recent, having poly tones; T68i uses standard i or e-melody tones. Games are downloadable thru internet by means of data cable unlike the T68i which comes with its own preloaded games.
Themes, Picture, Wallpaper and Screensavers are downloadable in both phones. The only thing that the T68i offers is that there is a lot more options of connectivity with its bluetooth and infrared ports.

my thoughts exactly
loved the connectivity options of my old t68m (which was upgraded to an i)..which i sold..which i now want back!!!
only plus side for the T230 is the color screen and java//mophun...but as i said, this phone will be used strictly for work.
does the t68i have problems displaying 4096 or 65k color images? hmm...

Both phones have identical 101 x 80 pixel screens.
I dont really know what 4096 color screen differs from the T68i screen is, maybe the colors are more sharper?
You having used a T68m and upgraded it to a T68i, know that the phone is a good one. But sometimes change is good.
Why dont you try the T230 first at your local retailers (if it is already out in the market) and then take it from there.
Compare both phones based on you experience with the T68.

thanks again!
t68's screen shows 256 colors...
will try out the t230 once it is available..but i did spy a lady in the mall using one..she probably works for one of the telco's.
held the dummy unit and it feels a bit plasticky...
but i like the form factor of the t68 and the way it feels in your hand..almost sexy ehehe
