I know people have had a lot of infrared problems under Windows XP, and this forums' members seem very knowledgable about it.

I bought an ASUS-IRDA (from dabs) which connects internally to my ASUS A7Pro motherboard. I have enabled IR and COM2 in the BIOS and XP detected it as a "Built-In Infrared Device" automatically. Fine.

However, I havent been able to get my PC and phone to communicate at all. When I set the phone to receive, neither PC nor phone recognise each other. However, if I try sending information (eg. business card, pic) from phone, XP will put a wireless icon in the taskbar saying "T68 is in range". However, it never stays for long and is impossible to send any files using XP. Also the phone never finds another device or registers a connection.

I have tried changing the baud rate to everything from 2400 to 115k but all have the same effect.

I am at my wits end with this problem as I need a data link to organise my phonebook so that I can start using my phone properly!

Thanks,

Andy

Sorry, should have said , I have also tried installing both the T65 and T68 ericsson software, but with no luck.

Mobile phone monitor does not seem to like my IRDA adapter as it doesnt have a COMM port. However, when I set up a virtual COMM port (with irdaw2k or ircomm2k) it gives the error "This operating system supports IrSockets for infrared communication. All IrComm ports will therefore be disabled". This means that I havent been able to communicate with (or even find) the phone thorugh either My Pictures or the syncing software.

Cheers,

Andy

I had problems with the IR on my PC. You should see if there are any updates/patches on the microsoft site for ur windows. Mine was on 2000 and there is a patch for it.
