Where and how much can I get an upgrade for the software for my T68. I heard that semicon does it for free for those who bought it there. But I'm wondering how much would it cost of rhtose who bought their phones elsewhere.

You only got 2 options: smartnet and semicon. The former is favored over the latter. Just do a search in the forums for their addresses. This post was posted from a T39

@WestIce, Sorry i didn't catch your earlier post about Globe not activating your GPRS properly. I went through the same thing, it took me a week to get it activated and I had to eliminate every possibilty before they admited it was their fault.

Anyway, from how i understand Smartnet, there is a charge if the phone wasn't bought in the Phils (P450 I think) because there is no warranty. The problem comes in because in every upgrade there is a risk of the phone just locking up completely. If you have a receipt for your phone (from anywhere I think) they'll replace the phone. If no receipt, no replacement, so owners risk.

If you are insistent enough and you have a copy of the original receipt then you can have your unit serviced by Semicon or Smartnet for free.

Exclusions would only be if the interior or the exterior of the unit is different from the equivalent product of the local country.

I had my friend's T39 which I bought in Singapore replaced in Smartnet recently. If the software could be upgraded then the interior components would be the same.

(Show them a copy of the Limited Warranty and the clause on International Service)

Thanks for the info...

Another question,

If any of you guys are using a T68 (or T39) iPAQ 3870 combo, does the software of the phone need to be upgraded if I wish to use Bluetooth between the two devices?

Sounds like that getting the software upgrade is a little bit more complicated and risky than I thought.

WestIce... it's really better if you upgrade the firmware of your phone to the latest one although theoretically, there should not be any major problem conneting it with the 3870.

By the way, Compaq has just recently released a patch for the Bluetooth Manager for the 3800 series... be sure to update both your phone and your pda.
