Hi.

I'm using a USB cable to connect my T610 to my computer and it works great. This cable also acts as a charger every time I connect the phone to the computer.

Do you think this is ok? Is it safe for the phone and it's battery? It's not a SE-branded cable so I don't know...

Any thoughts...?

Thanks.

I have a SE USB cable, firstly i recommend buying a bluetooth dongle. To answer your question, has the usb cable got like a little hole where u can plug ur charger which comes with your phone? If so I would think it would be safe yes.

Hi and thanks for answering.

Nope, the cable doesn't have that hole for the phone's original charger. The phone is charged directly from the computer's USB.

Well Sony Ericsson chargers provide between 450mA of power 650mA (Depending on the charger - one of mine gives 450 and one 650) and USB provides a max of 500mA so there's not much chance of the cable drawing too much power. USB ports will shut down if the connected device is pulling more than 500mA as I recall, and you'll get a notification in Windows. To reactivate it you have disconnect and replug the USB device.

Let's be honest - power's power, I don't think the phone cares where it gets the power from. A while back I did a bit of soldering inside a Handspring Visor cradle to get it to charge the said handheld's Springboard module from the USB port. I used it for a few months and it always worked fine.

I have one which I got about 2 years ago for my old t39. I usuallly bring it with my laptop so I don't have to bring a charger.

Works without hitches for the t68
