> t610 - What does this SMS icon mean?
Bookmark topic
I just got an SMS message, and the icon in my SMS inbox is like a "broken" closed envelope next to the person's name instead of a standard open or closed envelope for the rest of the messages. The icon stays the same even though I've read the message.
Also at the bottom of the message is (...).
What does this mean? I've misplaced the manual or I'd look there.
Thanks
Jonathan.

the message is corrupted, you probably will not be able to read it (the whole message).
that's what the closed envelope with the dashed diagonal line on the upper right side means.
have the person send you the sms again.

From your description of the icon, it's a 'Damaged Message'.

At a guess I'd say that MaThIbUs is about right.
Because SMS is restriced to 160 characters, any messages longer than that are actually sent as multiple messages which are then 'stitched' together by your phone when you recieve them. It sounds like you recieved the first part of one of these long messages but never got the rest of it. This will almost certainly be a network error and not a problem with your phone. You might recieve the rest of the message later, or you might not! My housemate sometimes has the same problem on one of her Nokia's because she opens texts so quickly when she revieves them that she doesn't give the phone a chance to get the whole thing from the operator.

Thanks guys,
lol just after I replied saying "didn't get all of your last message", the network obviously figured it out and sent me the whole message. Typical lol.
thanks.
