Hello,
Why the talk time is that different among these phones? SonyEricsson.com claims that it is 5 hours for T616 and 14 hours for T610. That is very dramatic difference. Is it based on some real facts or just in the way of confusing people with providing not-so-true information on the web-site?
Cheers,
Constantine.

"T610 variants T616/T618 only available in the US and China respectively."
That is what it says
here, so that would mean answer is the is the different lanuage pack are more "power demanding".
I do agree the difference is quite dramatic thoug.

The main reason is obvious the 1900mhz network which eats up more power of the phone PLUS the fact that the coverage is 'thiner' in the us and china.

Why is it obvious that 1900MHz uses more power than 1800MHz? Anyhow, if that is true, the difference should not be that large!

And at the end of the day, one may notice that both T610 and T616 have 1900MHz.
I doubt that the coverage is that different in the US and in Europe.

@Constantine:
Yes, the coveage difference is THAT diff`rent! In Europe, the main cellular networks are GSM 900 and 1800 mhz and has been so in the last 10 years. In the Us, on the other hand, the most networks are still analogue( TDMA, PCS, etc) and they cover most of the important territory already. Another reason for poor digital (gsm & cdma) coverage in the US is the fact that the fixed lines penetration is more than 100% (around 104% per inhabitant). This means that every man in the US has at least one landline available...so the demand for mobile comunications is lower than Europe. In the important cities around US appeared gsm networks (1900mhz) but they r weak and limited in coverange, so many ppl would still chose an analogue network cuz they r better established, have better coverange and have bigger discounts...while gsm digital would offer better quality..and that`s all.Better call quality cuz the coverage is shit and limited.Just a few pointes.If u r interested, just search the net u`ll find better documentation.

Yes they do, but one needs to cionsider that 1900 mhz band is not USED in europe, it simply doesn't exist, so all phones in PRESENT europe use 900 or 1800 by default. As all phones in USA use 1900 (or nowadays 850) by default.
And yes there is a diff! When at home I easily get around 12-13 hrs talktime, when in USA I oly got 5.5 hrs talk time. same phone. Same provider. Just different band.

However, how would you explain, that they have the same talk time for all bands on the specifications page? And it (talk time) stays the same for all bands per model.
